Christmas Lights
PMRA introduced the lights competition many years ago and ran it up until 2012.
Since then, the competition has been in the capable hands of Mandurah Cruises.
Here is a message from their company director, Rod Bishop:
Season’s Greetings Port Mandurah
Canal Residents
We hope you are well. We are enjoying your incredible Christmas lights displays this festive season!
Our Christmas Lights Cruises commenced on 1st December and they are operating every night (excluding Christmas Day) at 7:30pm and 8:45pm through to 11th January 2015.
The Port Mandurah Canals Christmas Lights have had great exposure recently; listed on the WA Tourism website as an event, and as a must-see by Experience Perth.
The joy that your displays bring to everyone who visits the canals is truly wonderful.
To all our fabulous Port Mandurah Residents who put up stunning Christmas lights displays each year, we will again be having a competition to reward you for your efforts.
The competition will be divided into two awards:
1. The Judges Awards: Selected by a special group of hand-picked judges.
2. The Peoples Award: Judged by the passengers on the Mandurah Cruises Christmas Lights Tours.
Further details, prizes and the date of judging will be confirmed shortly and we will inform you all of this important information as soon as possible.
There will also be an end of season party, of which we will provide you with full details of soon.
The Rotary Wishing Well is back again this season. Our vessels stop at the Wishing Well each night on our Christmas Lights Cruises where donations collected from passengers on board are thrown into the well by our hostess and little helpers (children on board).
Last season a record total of over $14,000 was raised thanks to the amazing generosity of our passengers and the general public cruising the canals. The Wishing Well has been relocated to the opposite end of the canal this year to make it easier for boats cruising the canals to throw in their donations.
If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact us on 9581 1242 or email me at rod@mandurahcruises.com.au
On behalf of Mandurah Cruises, I’d like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Camp Quality Children's Cruise
On Thursday 18th December Santa will be visiting The Mandurah Offshore Fishing & Sailing Club to hand out presents to the Camp Quality kids before heading off on a tour of the canals to look at the Christmas lights.
The Camp Quality volunteers badly need your help as they will be hosting 86 children with cancer - and their families - totalling about 280!
If you have a boat, could you pick up and ferry the children and their families around the canals to look at the lights and drop them back at the fishing club when finished?
Or could you assist with a present costing up to $10.00; wrapped and marked boy or girl and with the appropriate age?
You may drop your donated gifts in the boxes provided at:
Mandurah Country Club, 16 Marsh Place, Halls Head; or
Mandurah Offshore Fishing & Sailing Club, 115 Breakwater Parade, Mandurah.
Please contact wtreby@airefrig.com.au if you are able to assist with a boat on the night.

Mosquito Management

As canal dwellers we are fortunate to experience very few flies and mosquitoes compared to our country cousins. So far this year we have been blessed with even fewer than usual.
But it only takes one mozzie to ruin a barbecue, so if you and the kids would like to make your own toxin-free mosquito trap (as recommended by one of our members) then please click here.

Santa on the Canals
Thank you if you have offered to help pack the lollies for Santa; he now has more than enough helpers. He will be cruising past your jetty on Christmas Eve between 5.30 and 7.00pm.
