Friends of Samphire Cove
The Cove volunteers meet on the last Sunday of each month to improve the amenity of this lovely bird-watching area at the end of Leisure Way.
Last month they did a clean up; the debris included a sign and a large boat cushion on the samphire flats! They also did some hand weeding around the new plantings which where then identified by banging in bamboo stakes.
This Sunday morning (30th) from 9.00 they will be oiling the second bird hide. If you'd like to join them you’ll need to wear clothes that you don't mind getting grotty forever! Please BYO morning tea to have after the oiling session.
The Friends are planning to apply for funding to concrete the entrance way and upgrade the 145 metres of limestone path to the first bird hide.


Nuisance Birds
The City of Mandurah has informed us that cormorant and gull nesting on the Southern Entrance groyne has now ceased and officers have been given the go ahead to commence installing mitigation devices to prevent them returning.

Dedging Update
The dredging in and around the Port Mandurah is currently taking place. The dredge was out of action for a week or so due to technical difficulties but is now up and running again.
