Barefoot Bowls at Halls Head Bowling Club

 

PMRA members and friends are invited to participate in a six week season of Barefoot Bowls at
Halls Head Bowling Club.

It will run each Friday evening from 18th Oct to 22nd Nov. Bowling commences at 6.00pm for approximately 1 hour, and then we'll adjourn to the bar/restaurant for refreshments, and meals if you wish.
Footwear is flat-soled soft shoes, thongs, socks or BARE FEET. No commitment is required regarding the number of nights you play.
It is proposed that teams are made up of bowling members and PMRA members and friends. People with little or no experience are encouraged to join in for fun and interaction. Bowls will be supplied by the Bowling Club.
The cost is $10.00 per person per evening to bowl, plus the cost of your refreshments (at club prices).
Come along and enjoy the opportunity to play bowls and meet some new friends.

First Aid Demonstration for PMRA Residents

 

St John’s will be presenting a 2 hour First Aid Lecture on 

Thursday 24 October at Halls Head Parade Community & Sports Facility (Old Yacht Club) at 1 Halls Head Parade
from 1-4pm. Cost $15.00.

The following subjects will be covered: 

Respiratory system, including asthma management

CPR demonstration

Conditions affecting consciousness

Heart conditions, including heart attacks

Stroke

Diabetes

Shock/fainting management

Bleeding management

Snake bites

This course is designed as a demonstration for mature groups who would like an introduction or basic refresher on first aid knowledge and skills. This course is not assessed and no accreditation is given.

At the completion of the lecture, afternoon tea will be provided by the PMRA committee.

Hotham Valley Dining Carriage Excursion

  

PMRA has booked the Hotham Valley Railway Restaurant Train for the evening of
Friday 29th November for a rail trip and a sumptuous five course dinner.
A coach has been chartered and will pick up from Kings Carnival Car Park at 6.30pm.
The train departs from Dwellingup at 7.45pm and returns at 10.35pm. 
$100.00 per person including the train journey, meal and return coach (subsidised).
Pre-booking interest has been strong, so early bookings are advisable.
This event is for Port Mandurah residents only as there are just 46 seats available
(mostly tables of 4) and we expect them to fill quickly.

Revised Crab Season

Western Australia’s blue swimmer crab will be given additional protection through several new measures being introduced from this year.
To provide protection for the crab’s breeding stock, a three month closure to recreational and commercial crabbing will apply from 1 September to 30 November.

Safety Alert - Kapok Lifejacket

Kapok filled lifejackets with cotton straps are decades old and are unsafe, even if they are in their original packaging, have never been used and look in perfect condition.
Kapok is a cotton-like fluff that is no longer used in lifejacket manufacture because it naturally loses buoyancy over time and, if it gets wet, will absorb water.
Furthermore, the cotton straps rot over time, even if the lifejacket is not used, and will tear or break off the lifejacket when weight comes on it. Find out more.

Mandurah Traffic Bridge Construction Update

The closure of the bridge's north lane is now scheduled for 15th and 18th September
with works happening through the night.
The City is extending the boardwalk at the rear of Bar Therapy, to connect with Mandurah Bridge via a new staircase.
Pedestrian access around the construction works will be maintained at all times.
