Pelaqita Persians
August 1, 2016
The month of July seemed to go by in a heartbeat. I cannot believe the summer is almost over and kids will be going back to school soon.

I was at the grocery store this afternoon and outside replacing all the summer tables, chairs, and barbecues I saw ... guess what? Halloween themed decorations for outside. Is it just me or does it seem that each holiday season keeps getting advertised earlier and earlier every year? Needless to say, I am NOT ready for October or Halloween. lol

Millie has been living with Chachi (Ralph's full littermate brother), and we hope that Chachi figures out what to do. Poor baby was getting all worked up at the shows, so his human mom, Jackie, and I decided to try to let him breed a female and hopefully, that will calm his little behind down! lol

Everyone have a great August!
Ceylons Wand-erland
Late last year I started seeing images of some very gorgeous cat wands and teaser toys on Facebook. When I clicked on the link, it took me to Ceylons Wand-erland. There I saw the most beautiful and functional cat teaser wands. Just what I needed to engage the kittens for when we take their pictures or for playing with my cats at the cat show. I ended up buying several of the different wands. Some wands I had personalized with my cattery name on them, but the owner, Chasity, says she will put any personalization on a wand (i.e., the pet's name, your name, or whatever you can dream up). My kittens and cats love these toys.

My kittens and cats love these toys, so I thought this would make an informative article for the newsletter. I sent some questions to Chasity, which she graciously answered, and even sent me some pictures of her designs with links to where you can purchase them. Please check these toys out as they really are a work of art - AND more importantly, they stand up to rigorous playing by your kitty

What Makes a Responsible Breeder?
Once of the first articles I wrote many years ago, was about how one could tell if a breeder was a responsible or reputable one. My criteria when looking for a cat or dog may be different than yours. However, all of us should look for some key things to ensure that the breeder we are considering buying a pet from is one that is responsible, reputable, is not a puppy mill type of operation, and breeds healthy, well-adjusted babies. Click the link to read the article about what I believe makes a breeder the kind of breeder I would feel comfortable purchasing a kitten or puppy.

Did You Know?
Contrary to popular belief, the cat is a social animal. A pet cat will respond and answer to speech, and seems to enjoy human companionship.

The Pennsylvania Dutch believed that a cat placed in an empty cradle would grant a newlywed couple a home filled with children.

We will be breeding JR as soon as she cycles again.

Send in Those Pictures
Does your cat do something that you think nobody would believe unless they saw a picture of it? Send us the picture. Is your cat having a love affair with another species? Send us the picture. Is your cat the life of any gathering? Send us the picture. ... You get the idea.

We thought it would be fun to show a Cat O'Month photo every month which will be posted in our newsletter. If you submit a picture, please provide the following information:

  1. Your full name (Only first name will be used in newsletter)
  2. Name of cat;
  3. Age or date of birth of cat;
  4. Color and breed of cat;
  5. If other animals are pictured, please provide the animal's information.

You MUST be the owner of the picture. The cat does NOT have to be a Persian cat, nor does it have to be a purebred cat. We just want to make this fun.

Send the picture to: newsletter@pelaqitapersians.com
