Pelaqita Persians

Happy Holidays!

It is just about that time of year and Christmas is fast approaching. Merry Christmas to everyone and have a healthy, happy and prosperous (in this economy?) New Year! The weather here in Pleasantville has taken a distinct turn. We sure do love our Buck Stove and are fortunate to have it to keep our heating costs down. The cats love to sleep on the brick hearth that surrounds it. We have had our first snow today. Just a gentle dusting, although the temperature is about 30 degrees and expected to stay that way for a few more days. Our German Shepherd Dog, Ace, is in love again. He has a new cat to "groom", GC Cacao Dignity of Pelaqita, better known as Diggie. He is such a beautiful boy and we look forward to some pretty babies out of him sometime next year. Don't Forget: Our Newsletter subscribers and prior clients are eligible for a discount on a new kitten.
Household Toxins
Although toxic ingestion by cats is rare, it is important to understand what common toxins and their effects are. Cats have a unique physiology and therefore handle toxicological emergencies differently than dogs or humans. Cats can become sick from grooming toxins off their bodies or by ingesting (eating) them directly. I would like to discuss the most common toxic agents in cats: Lilies, anti-freeze (ethylene glycol), "over the counter flea medication" (pyrethrins), and Tylenol (acetaminophen).

Declawing
Many people believe that declawing their cat is simply the surgical removal of the cat's nails. This is incorrect, please take a moment and read the rest of this article before making the decision to have your cat declawed as it may give you valuable information and some alternatives to declawing a cat.

Did You Know?
"No matter how much cats fight, there always seems to be plenty of kittens." ~ Abraham Lincoln

Persian cats are on the small side, with solid boned legs to support what is called a "cobby" body. At adulthood, a Persian will generally weigh between 6-12 pounds depending on whether it is a female or male.

"A cat has absolute emotional honesty: human beings, for one reason or another, may hide their feelings, but a cat does not." ~ Ernest Hemingway
Litter Box

We have kittens that are ready for their new homes. These kittens are the last litter CH Pelaqita Herman the Terminator will sire.

After careful consideration we have made the decision to neuter him which was done a few weeks ago. In retirement now, Herman is looking for an adopted "forever home." If interested in Herman, please visit our "Available" page for more information.

We will not be having any litters early next year. Family plans and the upcoming show season will be priorities for our cattery. We planned the current litters around the Holiday season and to allow for other scheduled events.

For more information, please visit our website. Review the pages under the Placement tab and if you would like to be considered for one of our Persian kittens, please fill out and submit the on-line Application.
