Pelaqita Persians Welcome
December 1, 2013

Hello,    -

We hope that everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving.  I decided not to have turkey this year as there is only the three of us.  So, we got a Honey Baked Ham - love them!

Miniature Christmas tree
It is hard to believe that it is already December and that Christmas is fast approaching.  How about you?  Have you gotten all your Christmas shopping done yet?  Do remember that during the Holiday season that there are all kinds of potential risks to our furry friends.  Check out our yearly article (below) on Holiday Safety and your pets.

The picture to the left is a miniature Christmas tree that my friend, Asma, sent to me.  We were recently talking about the upcoming Christmas holiday and the fact that I was not in the mood to drag all the boxes of decorations upstairs, decorate, only to have a massive clean up afterward.  The holidays are only my husband and I and my developmentally disabled brother, Matthew, so for me, it is not worth all the trouble of decorating.  I know, I know, "bah, humbug."  Anyway, Asma got me this miniature tree so now I am in the Christmas spirit and do not have to worry about any more Christmas decorations!  :-)

We received three submissions for our Rainbow Bridge tribute to the ones that some of our Newsletter subscribers have lost.  We think that you will enjoy the tributes that these owners have written about their beloved companions.

The Secret of Cat Whispering
By:   Dr. Sarah
Life's Abundance

Some people just have a knack for attracting the affections of cats. Others, not so much. If you’re in the latter category, you should definitely watch this short episode of Pet Talk, where Dr. Sarah reveals the secrets to ‘cat whispering’. Joined by Alvis, her feline guest-host, our staff veterinarian presents an excellent tutorial for those interested in learning the proper way to pet a cat. Great for children or anyone with limited experience with felines.

Cat O'The Month

We are not featuring one cat this month as we decided to have a tribute to those cats that have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.  Please click on the link titled "Rainbow Bridge" in the next paragraph.

Three of our Newsletter subscribers submitted pictures and written tributes to their beloved companions.  We hope that you enjoy reading about them on our Rainbow Bridge  page.

The pictures and tributes are below the Rainbow Bridge poem.

Is your cat the life of any gathering? Send us the picture. You get the idea. We thought it would be fun to show a Cat of the Month photo every month which will be posted in our newsletter. LITTER BOX
Despite my resolve not have any kittens until next Spring.  Milie came into heat and I changed my mind.  Millie was bred to Diggie.  If Millie is pregnant, this will be her first litter.  Since this will be her first litter, we went ahead and bred Sophia at the same time in case Millie does not know how to properly take care of her kittens.  We have had cats "co-parent" before and it works out well when an experienced mom is placed with an inexperienced mom.  IF Millie and Sophia are pregnant, they will have their kittens in late January 2014.

We will not be breeding and other cats until January 2014 which means those kittens will be born around March/April.  When those kittens are born, they will not be able to leave our home for 12 weeks (May or June).

If you are interested in being placed on our wait list, please visit our website  and review the sections under the "Placement" tab.  If after reviewing those sections, you wish to be considered for one of our Persian kittens, please fill out and submit the on-line Application (also found in that section).
