John and I hope that everyone had a great Holiday Season and have a wonderful New Year.

With the New Year comes kittening time. Most breeders will have kittens born in February, March, and April. I thought it would be a good idea to re-run an article about Decoding a Veterinarian's Record Chart as some of you will be taking a new kitten to the vet in the next few weeks. Or you may be bringing your cat in for its yearly well-cat check up. Understanding what is being written in your cat's record book and making sure of the accuracy of such information may be important to your cat's treatment protocol.

The other article is about the causes of excessive tearing with Persian cats. Some Persian cats have more eye tearing than others, and sometimes treatment is needed to resolve the issue.

John and I and all of our critters wish everyone a happy and prosperous New Year!
Decoding a Veterinarian Record Chart
As a pet owner, at some time or another, I have looked at my pet's record chart and wondered "What do all those abbreviations mean"? We are our pet's best advocate as we know them better than anyone, even our veterinarians. Therefore, this article may help you as an owner to decode your pet's record chart.

Persian Cats & Eye Tearing
One of the most difficult thing to deal with in our beloved Persian breed is the excessive eye tearing and the staining it can cause. There are several reasons for the tearing, and depending on the cause the treatment can vary.

Reader Hints and Tips
Bowls with low, wide sides are better for cats in general because they won't bother their whiskers while eating.

Did You Know?
If your cat refuses your tap water, it may be smelling (with its superior sense of smell) the chlorine or other minerals in your water. Many finicky felines demand bottled water, just like their human counterparts.

Thirty-four percent of cat-owning households have incomes of $60,000 or more.

"Of all God's creatures, there is only one that cannot be made slave of the lash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve the man, but it would deteriorate the cat." ~ Mark Twain
