Dear
Spring is here finally! I know we will have some more icky days, but we currently have warmer days and the trees and flowers are blooming. I love this picture that my husband took of one of the trees in our yard with the new buds on it. :-)
We have been busy here with three litters (a total of 8 kittens) on the ground. The two older litters were moved into the cat room a few weeks ago so they can have room to run and play. They are eating canned food in the morning and always have the dry kibble available to them. They are growing and developing by leaps and bounds. They are almost litter box trained (still a few mistakes).
In another week or so, we will be moving the youngest litter into the cat room also.

Effect The Time of Year Has on Cat Behavior
By: Susan MacArthur
Normally, a cat that is housed exclusively indoors and under the influence of seasonal light (the sun) will not have estrus cycles during the Winter months, especially November / December when daylight hours are shorter. With the onset of Spring, and the resulting increase of sunlight during the day, female cats will start their estrus cycles again. This is why more kittens are born in the late Spring than any other time of the year. An intact female cat is called a "Queen".

Inspection and Cleaning Your Cat's Ears
By: Susan MacArthur
There is an old saying about "an ounce of prevention ...". This is particularly the case with our cats and their ears. Routine ear care is one of the most overlooked areas of cat health and can result in ear issues that require a veterinarian's intervention to resolve (infections or mite infestations). These types of issues can be prevented or treated quickly and easily when caught early.

Susan:
Krishan was born on Jan. 30, 2013 in Romania. I had wanted a gray Persian for several years, but our house was full of four other cats. When they all four died unexpectedly and tragically my heart felt the void of not having a furry baby curl up in my lap, walk all over my laptop, purr at my feet or in my ear, and all those things cat lover's get hooked on.
Last week I celebrated my 50th birthday and my dear husband, who likes cats only because I love cats brought home this little gray kitten as my gift. Like all Persians I've known he has a sweet disposition. His first combing was a bit tricky, but he seems to enjoy it after just one week - so thankful for that!

Send Us Those Cat Pictures
Does your cat do something that you think nobody would believe unless they saw a picture of it? Send us that picture. Is your cat having a love affair with another species? Send us the picture. Is your cat the life of any gathering? Send us the picture. You get the idea. We thought it would be fun to show a Cat of the Month photo every month which will be posted in our newsletter. If you submit a picture, please include your full name (this information is just for us and will not be shared), the name, age or date of birth, color, and breed of your cat. If there are other animals in the picture, please let us know who or what is appearing with your cat. You MUST be the owner of the picture in order to submit the picture to us. The cat does NOT need to be a Persian cat, nor does it have to be a purebred. We just want to make this fun.

Did You Know?
|
Persians are the most popular breed of cat in North America.
You will usually find a Persian's feet firmly planted on the ground or close to it (while of mine do like the kitchen counter). Persian cats are not the climbers and jumpers like the Siamese breed.
If you sneeze whenever you are around cats, chances are it is the saliva on their fur that you are reacting to.
There are more than 500 million domestic cats in the world, with about 33 different breeds.

The only kittens that we currently have available are the two boys born to Sugar. One is a black & white and the other is a red tabby.
To learn more about the kittens and see pictures of them since they were born, please visit our
Facebook page.
It is still too early to know anything about Gracie and she has not come into heat yet (although I may have missed it and she may be pregnant also).
