Happy Thanksgiving

bare trees in spooky looking fog
This picture was taken from our driveway looking out towards the old barn at the front of our property and was taken at about 8 in the morning while there was a very thick fog. But by ten the fog had burned off, and we went out to split wood for our fireplace to heat our home this winter. As you can see by this picture, the weather has certainly changed here in central Ohio. It went from beautiful, sunny, warm weather to days that are in the 60's and nights that are in the low 40's. A few days ago, we had our first night where there was frost on the ground in the morning. I am not a winter/cold weather type person, so this change is not a happy one for me. However, at least the winters here do not last as long nor are they usually as cold as what we used to get when we lived in Colorado.

Please, everyone, have a safe and joyous Thanksgiving.
Buying A Registered Persian
When purchasing a registered Persian kitten, you can expect to pay more than for a kitten that is not registered. A pedigreed Persian kitten is an investment, so it is important to do your homework. Consider Persian kittens for sale from responsible cat breeders who offer a written health guarantee, the kittens have had age-appropriate vaccinations/wormings, and the kittens have been examined (at a minimum one time) by their veterinarian. A responsible cat breeder will also have the paperwork for registering the kitten in your name with a registry organization (i.e., The Cat Fanciers' Association - CFA).

So You Found a Pregnant Cat...

Did you know that cats can become mothers in their first year of life? While more and more pet parents spay their cats early in life, many good Samaritans have gotten more than they bargained for, after finding that the stray they adopted is pregnant. As a matter of fact, we here at the Life's Abundance office found ourselves in a similar situation when a sweet little stray showed up at our door a while back. Of course, food and water were the first order of business. After a few days, she began to trust us enough to pet her. That's when we discovered that she was pregnant. To make a long story short, we took good care of her and her kittens, and now the whole feline family lives with their new adoptive parents. If you have a pregnant cat, you may be wondering what to expect and how best to care for the expectant mother.

Did You Know?
Sir Isaac Newton also invented the cat door as well as discovering the principles of gravity.

Try hanging an orange or lemon scented air freshener in the inner branches of the Christmas tree, if your cat is a "seasonal" climber.

Litter Box

We hope to have kittens in a few months. We are anxiously waiting for our Grand Champion male, Dignity, to get a clue as to what the girls are for. It is not uncommon for Persian males to take a while to mature and want to breed, so we do not think he has an actual "problem". He is not yet two years old and that is still young (in their minds at least). Stay tuned for when Diggie gets a clue!

Cream and White Persian cat
Susan,

Isabella was born 08-07-98 in Walnut Creek, CA and passed away 06-22-11 in Charlotte, NC. She truly was my best friend, she would hear me pull into the garage and would be waiting at the door to greet me with a welcome home Meow. A social butterfly was she, she also was in the middle of everything and visited every guest we ever had in our home for almost 13 years! My husband always would say we really do not need a dog when we have Isabella. She is thoroughly missed!!
