Trouble Sleeping?
Jennifer DeLaney, MD |
|
|
If you're having difficulty with your sleep, it's important to take a look at what factors may be contributing to this problem. Poor sleep quality is associated with numerous negative health outcomes including depression, dementia, high blood pressure, and increased cardiovascular risk. Fortunately, behavioral changes can really improve your sleep. A recent study showed that bright light exposure (being outside in the daytime) can make a significant difference in regulating sleep and improving depression. Similarly, reducing light exposure in the evening by dimming household lights and avoiding devices that emit blue light, like phones or tablets, can help cue your body that it is time for sleep. Exercise can help with sleep quality too. Avoiding caffeine, alcohol and nicotine is also important if sleep quality is poor.

We are in the middle of another big COVID wave with the number of cases up 25 percent since last month. If you are over 65 or are immunocompromised and have not been vaccinated this year, please get a booster now. Also, consider masking during travel, and if you are eligible for it, bring Paxlovid along, particularly if you are travelling internationally.
(For those who have already received a booster this year, a new variation of the COVID shot will be coming out in the fall. Stay tuned for more information.)

We are pleased to announce that Gina Berlotti will now be part of our team here at Personal Physicians. Many of you have probably interacted with Gina in her prior position as the office manager for Washington University Gastroenterology. Gina's position will be as Patient Experience Coordinator. She brings with her decades of experience as an office manager, along with skills in the Epic/My Chart medical records system which we will be transitioning to in October. In addition, Gina understands the BJC/Washington University referral and test ordering systems, and has developed extensive relationships with multiple providers. She is uniquely qualified to navigate these complex medical environments. Gina is immensely personable and out-going. We are so happy she has joined us and will try to introduce you to her at your next visit. |

Paying by check? Please remember to write your invoice number and/or indicate the patient the check is written for in the memo line. This helps make sure the payment is applied to the correct patient's account.
Online payment? Bill.com has updated their patient-facing website to make online payments even easier. You will hopefully find this update removes some of the pain points you may have experienced. Now the easiest way to pay is by clicking the "View and Pay Invoice" button within your email. This will give you the option to pay by ACH or credit card and directly links the payment to your invoice. Or you can also open the PDF attachment in your email and then go to the website listed within your invoice. This route will just have the additional step of logging in to your account first in order to link your payment to that invoice.
As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to ask.

Please plan to arrive at least 5 minutes early for your physical or follow-up appointment to allow time for us to get you all checked in before your appointment. This allows us to keep your chart up to date and to complete any required forms. It will also allow you to get more face time with your physician.
Thank you!
