Wow  - have you heard about BikeFest?

Havelock North's new festival of cycling is just a few weeks off - and would you check out all the action...!

A-hem. So perhaps we are a little bit excited here at Revolution Bikes and yes okay maybe we should have started off by first saying SORRY for being such slack email buddies over the last year. Yes, it's been far too long since our last Riding Revolution email was sent, and yes we are hanging our heads in shame. And yes, we are bracing ourselves for a barrage of reply emails telling us what slackers we have been!!!

But seriously, we have been really really busy! Read on to see what we've been up to, in the shop and out there in the biking community.

Oh by-the-way we're open all LABOUR WEEKEND so if you're wondering what to do with your spare time do drop in and say hi.

Billie Sue & Hilton Taylor.

BikeFest hits Havelock

It just so happened that this year we were in the right place (in a meeting actually) at the right time to kick off a wicked new bike festival for Havelock North. ( As a side note, we do think it's rather cool that so many other Hawke's Bay people are getting into biking... just goes to prove our point from a few emails back that biking is the new black!)

BikeFest

So... coming up from November 2nd - 4th is BikeFest, a celebration of all types of cycling in the village.

The Havelock North Business Association are the folk backing the event, and there are currently 14 different events and activities scheduled for the three days. Really different stuff... even for people who just wish they rode a bike!  (There they are listed in the Events Calendar on the left).

Want to win a couple of his & her's Schwinn beach cruisers? Download the entry form for the Bike Hunt competition here.

All the event info can be found on the new BikeFest Facebook page or Event Finder, or the official Havelock North website.

Going balmy over Beach Cruisers?
Schwinn Sprite 2013
The lovely Schwinn Sprite

L.A. has them in droves and the craze is quickly catching on here in little old Hawke's Bay.

Beach Cruisers are super comfy bikes with important features like big 'tractor' style seats, swept-back handlebars, coaster brakes, and coffee cup holders. We even have a couple with wine bottle holders built in!

We love these bikes for casual pathway riding. Styling is important - they really look the part - and there are more than a few brands to choose from, in price brackets to suit everyone. You know the saying though - and like any bike you get what you pay for - no one ever regretted buying quality. Pictured is the Sprite from Schwinn's 2013 range... this range is well worth a look if you want to give casual riding a go this summer. We have a bunch of guys and girls Schwinns in store right now.

STAFF UPDATE

We seem to have been busier than ever this year and no doubt we have our great team to thank for creating many happy customers. These are the main players...

Kurt, our original after-school-shop-boy has graduated onto E.I.T. and is still with us on Fridays and weekends.

Nicolas, our Chilean born road cycling star, is fulll time in the workshop and surviving quite well despite the fact his gorgeous baby daughter (almost 2 months old) is still waking everyone repeatedly through the night!

John Smith has been welcomed back to Revolution Bikes - the business he actually started many years ago! He's a keen BMX'er, a cool guy, and has a wealth of cycling knowledge for you to tap into.

Hilton & Billie Sue - well we are expecting our third baby next week, so if you happen to call into the shop and find Hilton asleep behind the counter just shout 'Hey NAPPY BRAIN' at him!
