HB Trails

Remember how the Tourism people were here to film the HB Trails? You can now view the promo videos on You Tube: be prepared, they did quite a lot of eating and drinking while touring the trails!

Cycle Trails short version

HB Trails long version

Hey ,  well there are some exciting changes underway here at Revolution Bikes to meet our customer demands. First we doubled the size of our workshop and now we have been tinkering with our business model to stock more bike brands including Norco, Rocky Mountain, Cannondale, GT, Trek, Mondraker, Fuji, and Felt.

Revolution Bikes
Now, where did I put that Norco?

As you know, cycling is ‘the new black’, “the new golf”, and “the new jog”. All forms of riding have become so popular across the country that we sometimes had trouble finding the bikes our customers want when they want them.

So in response we have had to spread the net wider and grab the best deals from lots of suppliers. Which means we can get the right bike for your needs.

We will still stock selected Merida, Lappeirre, BYK and Kona bikes, in addition to being able to bring you a wider range of mountain bikes, road bikes, comfort, pathway bikes, BMX bikes, you name it.

New - Bike of the Week - GT Aggressor 1.0

was $749.99     NOW $599.99

Gt Agressor 1.0

Oh la la - all you small people look here. NEW in Havelock North this week we have an awesome deal on this years 2014 GT Aggressor, exclusively in Extra Small size frame. Ideal for adventurous newbies, this is what the official blurb has to say:

"GT’s Aggressor is the supreme choice for aspiring mountain bikers who want something that helps expand their skills without leaving them high and dry on a bike that can’t handle newfound bravery on the trails."

Basically its a good little hardtail MTB with 80mm travel up front, disk brakes, and good components for smooth and reliable gear shifting.

Come and test ride one today while stocks last.

Fancy a coffee ?

Hilton and his Chai
Yes, I am man enough to drink a Chai Latte!

Are you part of the hot new coffee and cycling trend? We are delighted to have feedback from local cafes Tandem (Te Mata Rd), House (Napier Rd) and Bivvy (TukiTuki Trail) of increasing number of cyclists stopping for a coffee whilst on bicycles.

The first two are ideally placed for a ‘park up and grab a coffee then a ride’ scenario. Stocking either Bay Espresso or Hawthorne coffee, you are guaranteed a decent brew at any of these cafes, trust us, we’ve tried them all.

On the road into Hastings (and conveniently the IWay pathway) we found Barm Bracks doing a roaring trade just after 9am on a Tuesday. Good coffee and croissants, lots of bike racks too.

What is your favourite cafe to bike to? Share with us on Facebook!

- want to race?

Coming up in Havelock North on the 15th March is the annual Triple Peaks Challenge between Te Mata Peak, Mt Kahuraniki, and Mt Erin. This popular race is for walkers, runners, and mountain bikers to compete solo or as part of a team. Good news for those not-so-hardcore mountain bikers, you can now enter as part of a 3 person mountain bike teams again. If you are keen to challenge yourself and still need a team-mate or two, come and see us at Revolution Bikes and we’ll see if we can match you up.
Triple Peaks Challenge
How many more hills to go?

As usual the race registraion is at Revolution Bikes on the evening of 14th March between 5 - 7.30pm. There are no on the day entries.

Staying in the loop

Did you know the Regional Council has put traffic counters on many of the HB Trails? They are providing us with monthly trail usage stats. Not surprisingly, Marine Parade is the most popular trail by far, followed by Westshore and Prebensen Drive. If you are looking for a quieter ride you might like to try the wineries ride or the Pakowhai trail.

Complimentary 6 week service

We have a policy of giving each geared bike that we sell a complimentary service in it's first 6 weeks of riding.

This service is necessary as new cables can loosen and relax, which makes changing gears difficult. We also check for any parts that are loose, whcih if left unattended may cause undue wear and tear on your bike.

You don't need to wait for a reminder  - if your new bike starts misbehaving please bring it back to us as soon as you can and we will give it a proper seeing-to.

Happy trails everyone!
