Hi there Subscriber

You've probably noticed that BIKE RIDING is the "NEW BLACK". You can't turn a page in the newspaper (any of them) without being confronted by a smiling politician in a helmet or a grinning council staffer weilding a very clean looking bike. Or someone on a bike in a frock with mischief written all over her.

So with bike riding suddenly top of the pops with everyone from barefoot BMXers to Frockers, Ramblers, and Amblers, it seems a good time to remind anyone who hasn't already picked a 'tribe', that there's still a good chance you can find a bargain bike in the final days of our winter sale.

While most of the bikes in the shop have been marked down by up to 50%, it's our observation that pathway bikes have been the most popular. And with prices from $350 it's not surprising.

Haven't had time to check them out? You've got less than two weeks, the sale ends 31 August. So come in this week! (Before all the best bargains go rolling out the door down to the nearest pathway...)

Bike Shop Secrets workshops
- get prepared for spring races & events!

Due to demand we will be running our popular Bike Shop Secrets workshops again in September. The series will be tailored for people wanting to compete in events like the Tour the Bay funride (17th October) and the Lake Taupo Cycling Challenge (27 November), with new information added to the classes on what to eat before/during a race, bunch riding etiquette (yes there is such a thing!) and a practical group ride on Sunday to learn and practice new skills.

These are fun sessions with small classes and lots of opportunities to ask questions. Expect expert tuition from our qualified bike mechanic, experienced riders, and a cycling specialist physiotherapist.

  1. Tuesday 7 September, 7pm - Bike Basics 1: Wheels & Brakes
  2. Thursday 9 September, 7pm - Bike Basics 2: Drive Chain & Gears
  3. Tuesday 14 September, 7pm - Positioning, preventing injuries, race nutrition, bunch etiquette (theory).
  4. Sunday 19 September, 10am - Practical riding skills & cafe finish.

You are welcome to join us for just one or for all sessions. For further infomation click here or give us a call at the shop.

COST: $15 per session. Bring a friend for $5. Book into all four sessions for $40 per person and save $20.

PLEASE BOOK NOW! Phone 877 8477 or email us

"For someone with a basic knowledge of bikes, I still got a lot out of bike shop secrets workshops. Those taking the workshops were friendly and experienced with a wealth of knowledge, which they freely passed on." Doug

"I thought the balance of info was great. Being informal and a smaller group meant that the presenters could be more responsive"

"I went to the sessions on gears, and position and posture, both were very good. People delivering the workshops had the expertise."

Want to join our team?

We're looking for more energetic staff to join our team, as we prepare to open 7 days a week. If you have skills in retail, sales, or bike mechanics, we want to meet you. If you've got no useful skills but get along well with people and are a fast learner then we want to meet you too. We offer flexible hours and great staff prices in a pretty cool industry. So what are you waiting for? Come in and see us at the shop.

Please help us to grow our business by using the link below to forward this email to your friends who would also like to have fun on a bike.  And of course all of our customers will get a great deal on bikes in our winter bike sale - up to 50% until the end of August .

Find us at 8 Donnelly Street in Havelock North, next to Advintage wines and Havelock's newest cafe Adam & Eva's.

Happy trails
