Happy Bikewise month , let's celebrate a month of my favourite subject - bikes, bikes and more bikes!
Bacon and muffins
Iway pulls out all the stops again this month with a free breakfast in the Hastings CBD on national Go By Bike Day, 12th Feb. Go on, grab a muffin and a coffee. Maybe a bacon buttie if you're quick too! Then following on after is Trip Switch week when we are encouraged to switch one trip per day out of the car and onto the bike or walking. Go on, you know you want to!

Film crew gets an ear-full
The HB Trails are getting a hammering (in a good way) from locals and tourists alike - and liking that is the NZ Tourism peoples who spent a day or three filming here for a new international cycle holiday promotion. Somehow my old man (aka Brian 'Grumpy' Taylor) was roped into helping them out and he spent the day driving the camera crew around on his quad bike as they 'trailed' a couple of pretend cycling holiday makers (Kevin Wagg and wife Mandy). Grumpy can be... 'a bit of a character' ...at times (he regularly drives the Beach Tractors to the gannet colony) - and I wonder whether the film crew knew what they were letting themselves in for?

Double the workload
You lot have been legends at bringing in your bikes for a regular servicing and repairs, so much so that our workshop floor space was starting to feel quite claustrophobic at times. So, to appease our all-star bike-mechanic team (you know who you are) we have re-jigged the internal layout at the rear of the shop and effectively DOUBLED the workshop floorspace. Wow - what a difference!!! Bring in your bike for a service and check out all the space!
This also means some of the stock including mudguards and carriers, and some tires and handlebars, and other consumable parts like brake-pads, are now located in the workshop area. Please just ask myself or the mechanics if there is any item we can help you with there.

Complimentary 6 week service
We have a policy of giving each geared bike that we sell a complimentary service in it's first 6 weeks of riding.
This service is necessary as new cables can loosen and relax, which makes changing gears difficult. We also check for any parts that are loose, whcih if left unattended may cause undue wear and tear on your bike.
You don't need to wait for a reminder - if your new bike starts misbehaving please bring it back to us as soon as you can and we will give it a proper seeing-to.

Happy trails everyone!
