Pictured up top first is one of our staff members Sierra Saint-Vil (left) with two students from Somerville High School (in the middle) and councilwoman Theresa Bonner from the Somerville Borough (right). They are all in downtown Somerville where Theresa and Sierra gave out pedestrian safety resources and materials along with candy to educate and spread awareness about pedestrian safety.

We gave Pops Bike Shop some bike reflectors, candy, and bike and pedestrian safety resources and informational materials to help promote pedestrian and bike safety awareness and education to local customers, visitors, and bikers entering the store. |

Here are captured moments highlighting our school engagement efforts in providing pedestrian and bike safety education and awareness throughout Somerset County at schools in North Plainfield, New Jersey. Students were able to identify and learn about the ways of the road, pedestrian and and bike signals and basic safety procedures. With hands on approach led by our program leaders, children interacted with pedestrian and bike safety education through fun jeopardy, trivia questions, and presentations. |

Pictured here are some of our community leaders involved in making the October 18th Bike Rodeo at Naaman Williams Park a success. It truly was a community effort that brought happy faces and important safety lessons to several kids. To the left is Ruquiyah "Q" Wilson, HBCU Scholarship Ride Project Manager, next to her is a Franklin Council Community Volunteer and to her is Chris Gonda, Keep Middlesex Moving (KMM) Program Manager, next to him is Reese, our Operations Program Specialist, and next to her is another Franklin Council Community Volunteer. |

Together, we were successfully able to garner positive attention and attendance for the October 18th Bike Rodeo and with the help of the HBCU Scholarship Ride Organization, we were able to donate 4 bikes to deserving students who needed them. We also partnered with the Franklin Township Police Department who joined us at the event and secured some children with bike helmets and taught bike safety.
Ruquiyah Wilson shared:
"Donating these bikes through the HBCU Scholarship Ride felt like a natural extension of my mission to make cycling accessible to everyone. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to support such meaningful local programs. Seeing the excitement on the children’s faces as they received their bikes and learned to ride was an unforgettable experience. A reminder that biking isn’t just about transportation, but also about building confidence, independence, and community.
As a Specialized Ambassador and owner of Q’s CyQling Bike Club, I’m passionate about helping people of all ages get outside and ride. It allows individuals to not only improve physical health, but to strengthen mental well-being and foster a lifelong love of movement."

She shared with us what pedestrian safety means to hear. She said " For me pedestrian safety is personal. I see those faces every day, kids walking to school, parents pushing strollers and I think about my own family. That's why it matters so much. Say alert!" |
