It's hard to believe that it's already that time of year again... the holidays are right around the corner. Most of the year Austinites live pretty casually, but this time of year tends to bring out the entertainer in all of us more than ever, and that might include a formal dinner or two. In our upcoming blog series for November we have put together a few beautiful tablescape ideas to pair with some delicious recipes to make you look like the host with the most.

Then in December we'll be sharing some great local gift ideas as well as some local Christmas music straight from the Live Music Capital of the World. Austin Monthly actually recently featured some shop local companies in their October issue and it's definitely worth checking out.

Our lovely clients in the formal living area of their Silver Spring, Maryland home enjoying their interior design and Christmas decorating, both provided by our firm.

We offer Christmas products and decorating services exclusively to our design clients. If you are interested, contact us today as we only have a couple of decorating slots left for this year!

There is nothing quite like combination treatments to pull a space together. The striped fabric used on this roman shade and the paisley print on the drapes were repeated throughout the client’s formal living room to create rhythm. A combination treatment uses more than one type of soft treatment on a window. This will sometimes involve a type of valance paired with drapery panels, or a layering of shades and drapery like we did for this treatment.

This recipe is a hit with my family anytime of year but works relly well as a hearty meal during the cooler weather.

It comes across as fancy but is actually quite easy to make and presents well for dinner parties.

The beautiful Fall Creek Vineyards is located right outside of Austin on 1826 across from the original Salt Lick. Their " classics" line of wines can be purchased in HEB Grocery Stores and so Austinites are familiar with the Fall Creek name. Wines can also be purchased direct from the vineyard or via their website, and this is the only way to purchase their more exclusive collections, like the Meritus, Terroir Reflection, and Vintner's Selection.

If you are hosting out-of-town guests and need a tourist destination, I highly suggest taking them to the Salt Lick for lunch, and then heading over to Fall Creek Vineyards for a bottle of wine on their lovely back patio.

If you prefer a lighter lunch, then I would recommend heading straight to the vineyard to try their grilled cheese sandwich. It's paired with an olive medley that is not only a perfect match for the very unique grilled cheese (which is served up on sourdough), but also for many of the wines that are part of their tasting.

Renee and I tasted some of the latest wines coming out of the vineyard and, believe it or not, our top pick was a white. I tend to be very partial to red wines, but this particular white was just delicious and will pair well with our featured recipe. This Vintner's Selection Sauvignon Blanc 2016 has aromas of sweet basil and a plate bursting with pear.

On Thursday, November 16th from 2:30pm-6:30pm, Smith Family Chiropractic will be having a business fair. Members of our Business Over Breakfast Club will be in attendance to talk about our businesses, and Dr. Smith will be offering pricing specials for new and repeat patients.

A portion of the fees collected for the day will go to the Austin Food Bank to help raise funds for Thanksgiving.

"You were a delight to work with, professional, punctual and supplied excellent people to install. You were always available to answer questions or concerns. It was great to work with your company. When I get ready, I will be calling for more assistance." - Debby
