The Dogs of Chernobyl Research Initiative
June 1-24, 2018
USC has established a new project to study the stray dogs living at the Chernobyl site in Ukraine, and provide essential animal welfare to stabilize population sizes and reduce long-term suffering by working with an international NGO (
Clean Futures Fund) to provide basic medical services for all dogs in the Zone. These dogs are also the subjects of a long-term research program to assess the impacts of radioactivity on these animals. The findings are important for the dogs and other animal life in the zone, but also for the 3500 people who work in Chernobyl every day. Veterinary experience preferred, possible travel funding and academic credits available. For more information contact Professor Mousseau at
mousseau@sc.edu.
