Spotlight on Research

Research is all about asking questions and finding answers.  Research opportunities exist for students in every discipline—humanities, social science, and STEM! Investigate local music traditions or study the coffee trade in Brazil. Conduct experiments with radiation-detecting elements in electrical engineering or discover oceanic chemical compositions in marine science. Beginning as early as your freshman year, research is a way to apply what you learn in the classroom to the real world.

Want to get paid for research? Attend one of SCHC’s Fall Research Grant Workshops to find out about SURF and Exploration grants. (The first one is this Wednesday, 8/29 at 6pm in Gressette.)

Attend one of the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR)’s  Getting Started Workshops, offered each week on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. OUR can help you narrow down your research project ideas, find the perfect mentor, make sense of funding opportunities and do just about anything else you need to do to get started in research!
