I’m proud that our district is recognized by Common Sense Education as the largest public school district in California to be Digital Citizenship Certified for implementing safe, appropriate, and responsible online behaviors for students and staff. Not only do we want students to be creators of technology, we also want them to be wise consumers. We know that people, especially youth, are spending an increasing amount of time online these days. That’s why we believe it’s important to teach students about issues like cyber-bullying, online privacy and their digital footprint. Throughout the week of October 15 we're paying special attention to digital citizenship with activities across our schools.
—Dr. Vincent Matthews, Superintendent

"It's a big upgrade from last year, when it was just blacktop and concrete," said 8th grader Evan Kwon.

To aid his assimilation, he enrolled at San Francisco International High School, which serves immigrants from around the world.

Thirsty students can fill up at SF schools
Revenue from a tax on soda and sugary beverages approved by San Francisco voters in 2016 will soon pay for the installation of more than two dozen lead-free water bottle refilling stations at public schools. The tap stations are already installed and operating at 89 San Francisco Unified School District schools. The soda tax revenue allocated this year will allow the district to place the stations at all of its school sites.
