Alastair Dacey offers Surprised by Color (SA 3), a new Plein Air class; a series of four two-day plein air workshops, each exploring a concept and practical approach to color. How does the oil painter see, mix and relate color so that something of the light and mystery of nature comes through

The Artists of Perkins Cove

"Swimmer" by Charles Woodbury

Tom Glove
r has come up with an exciting class called The Artists of Perkins Cove
(SA 7)
, focussing on the Art Colony of Ogunquit at Perkins Cove. The course will include a trip to the Ogunquit Museum as they have many paintings on display by painters from the school and a mock-up of Charles Woodbury’s studio, a key figure in the history of the Cove. As weather permits, students will meet in and around the Cove for as many plein air sessions as the season allows. A “photo hunt” to gather motifs and ideas for further study in homes/studios will be ongoing, so when the weather does turn students can switch to a remote/Zoom approach to finish up study of the Cove.
