Portfolio prep for High school students — sanctuaryartsconnects
Sanctuary Arts Connects, our new scholarship nonprofit, offers half off our three evening classes for high school students who are actively seeking to improve their portfolios for admission into art school. These classes cover oil painting, figure sculpture and classical drawing with three outstanding professional artists. Sean Beavers has taught Representational Oil Painting at Sanctuary Arts since we opened in 1999 and is an excellent instructor for beginning painters, as well as more experienced ones. Joshua Langstaff is an expert at teaching Classical Drawing, a great class for those who wish to hone their drawing skills. Anthony Alemany is a full time figure sculptor who is passionate about sculpting and teaching his techniques. His Clay Figure Sketching from Life class is the perfect way to learn how to create the figure in three dimensions. This triumvirate of classes should get a potential art school student well on their way in the competition to get into a good art school or atelier. To apply for a portfolio building scholarship, go to sanctuaryartsconnects.com.

Alice Carroll once again offers her regular Jewelry & Metalsmithing class (SA 15) as well as a couple of one session workshops; Spinner Ring Workshops (SA 16) and Forged Bracelet (SA 17) for those who don’t want to commit to an ongoing class but want to get a taste of working with metals. Alice is a nurturing and professional instructor who brings out the best in her students.
