 Iron Pour!

Create your own iron tile from scratch! Enjoy the day with us and scratch your own design into a sand mold. Hang around and watch as we cast 2300 degree iron into your mold!! 
 
From 11 – 1, carve into our tile sand molds for a fee of $20 per mold. All molds must be completed by 1pm. Hang out for a visual treat as Green Foundry members pour iron into your own scratch sand molds. When they cool off, tiles will be broken out of the molds and cleaned up. You are ready to take your tiles home to adorn your abode! Process is completed by 4 pm and is family friendly. Indigo Dyeing

Amanda Rouse offers a one day Indigo Dyeing (SA 15) workshop on Saturday, October 1 from 10 – 2. Beautiful garments can be achieved with the Japanese Shibori tradition of folding and manipulating fabrics to make intricate patterns for dyeing. Leave with the knowledge to continue this addictive technique on your own.

 

Sculpting the Torso from Life

Anthony Alemany offers Sculpting the Torso from Life (SA 12) beginning Tuesday October 4 from 6 - 9. Working at ¾ scale, students will learn to build an armature and work in a high fire water based clay from a live model. Anatomy, proportions, observation and interpretation are all part of this amazingly gifted instructor's instruction.

 

Classical Figure Drawing

Joshua Langstaff teaches optical realism in his Classical Figure Drawing (& Painting) (SA 8),  beginning Friday, September 30. Joshua is a consummate figure painter who also teaches with the well known Juliette Aristides, publisher of 6 important drawing and painting Classical Atelier books.

 

Painting the Still Life in Oil

Sydney Sparrow teaches Painting the Still Life in Oil (SA 3), beginning Wednesday, September 28, from 10 – 1. Learn to create realistic, vibrant paintings from life. Sydney is the best color mixing instructor you could hope to study with. Don't miss out!

Get a jump on our Fall season with Bill Paarlberg's Sketchbook Adventures (SA 4). Learn to use your sketchbook as a powerful tool to improve your skills while exploring seacoast locations near Portsmouth.  Bill demonstrates in pencil, ink, and watercolor (all mediums welcome!). Bill also offers two one day watercolor tutorials, Watercolor Basics for the Absolute (or Frustrated) Beginner (SA 10) and Practical Watercolor Techniques; Tactics & Inspiration for the Beginner/Intermediate

Our famous botanical illustrator, Carol Ann Morley, offers one class, Botanical Drawing (SA 5) beginning Thursday October 6 from 2 - 5, and one workshop, Colored Pencil Techniques (SA 9), meeting Saturday November 12 from 11 – 5. Carol is one of the best colored pencil artists I have ever met and is a generous instructor. Her classes are suitable for all levels. She can really teach you to draw!

Josh Dow offers his ever popular Beginner Bladesmithing (SA 19). Come make a small kitchen knife or straight blade utility knife in this stock removal knife class. General bladesmithing techniques, crafting the blade, heat treating, tempering and applyig a handle are all covered.

Alice Carroll continues to offer Saturday jewelry workshops as well as her Jewelry & Metalsmithing (SA 16) class. Forged Ginko Leaf with Bezel Pendant (SA 17) and Prong Set Cabachon Gemstone Pendant (SA 18) are the two on offer this Fall. No prior experience is necessary to learn to make some beautiful pieces for yourself.
