November 2 & 3 2024
Bring a carved woodblock to Sanctuary Arts on November 2 or 3. On the BIG TUNA press, you will print your woodblock (as small as 24”x36” or as BIG as 40”x96”). Registration is $325 and includes access to an online master class, ink, paper, three prints, and an exciting weekend. Carve the woodblock with a friend and split the cost. Questions? Crafting Stories
in Figure Painting
with Joshua Langstaff
Joshua Langstaff, a master oil painter who also teaches with art book author and mastr painter Juliette Aristides, offers Crafting Stories in Figure Painting (SA 5). This class focuses on painting a clothed figure from a live model, carefully arranged in a scene that suggests a compelling narrative. Explore classical painting techniques, drawing inspiration from Old Masters like Rembrandt. Joshua also offers a couple of 2 and 3 day workshops- Atmospheric Portrait Drawing (SA 12) and Mastering Light & Shadow in Oil (SA 13).

Carol Ann Morley, our beloved botanical illustrator, still has room in her Drawing Animal Portraits (SA 8) class for a pro-rated fee, since her class has already begun. She also offers Drawing Spring Flowers (SA 9), and Colored Pencil Adventures (SA 10), a five week class suitable for all levels of experience. Carol's one day Colored Pencil Techniques (SA 11) is also a great introduction to the joys of this versatile medium.
No drawing experience required.

Bill Paarlberg
Bill Paarlberg offers Trees (SA 3) for those artists of all levels who want to explore drawing and painting trees. Work both outdoors and in the studio as you study various types and species of trees as you learn how to best represent their shape, volume and personalities. Bill also offers Extreme Sketchbook Adventures (SA 7), a class for artists of all levels and media who want to try things very much out of the ordinary, stretch boundaries, make a mess, and have fun.
Figure in Watercolor
with Russel Whitten
Russel Whitten brings his enthusiasm for Figure in Watercolor (SA 4). Working with a live model in every class, Russel teaches proportions, shadow forms and watercolor mixing, as well as how the human figure exists visually in an environment.
Jewelry with Alice Carroll
Alice Carroll, a jeweler who loves to teach, offers Jewelry & Metalsmithing (SA 19), a ten week class that includes a mix of demonstrations, lectures, and studio time. Her beginning intensive covers basic hand tools, hot and cold connections, piercing, surface decoration, light forging, forming and basic stone settings. Alice also offers two Saturday morning workshops- Bezel Set Sea Glass Cuff Bracelet (SA 21) and Hinged Bracelet (SA 20).
