Maine skies offer ever-changing moments of remarkable atmosphere and light. The blue intensity of a cloudless day, sudden storms, mist, glowing horizons, moonscapes…watercolor is the perfect medium for capturing the mood that they inspire.

Bring a carved woodblock to Sanctuary Arts on November 2 or 3. On the BIG TUNA press, you will print your woodblock (as small as 24”x36” or as BIG as 40”x96”). Splendid Pizza Party Scholarship Fundraiser

Join us in the garden Saturday July 27th from 5 - 8 for a splendid pizza party fundraiser to benefit our Scholarship program at Sanctuary Arts Connects. Live music and dancing, hot pies from the gas kiln, friends and community gathered together in support of each other and accessible art education.

Joshua Langstaff offers two 3 day workshops: Painting Trees in the Landscape (SA 5) meets Friday, Saturday & Sunday July 12, 13, & 14 from 10 – 3. Come explore a process for creating layered paintings while on location. Various techniques from capturing light And shadow to creating depth and texture will be presented.

Figure Painting in the Landscape (SA 6) meets Friday, Saturday & Sunday July 26, 27, & 28 from 10 - 3. Head to a new location each day and paint live models posed in serene natural settings. Learn to quickly get the essence of the scene in oil painting while working with ever- changing light.
Joshua is a master oil painter who helps students interpret the majesty of trees in the landscape, or the fusion of figure painting and plein air landscape.
