Color Seeking (SA 6 B) with Tom Glover

Tom Glover’s Color Seeking (SA 6) class filled right up, so we have added another section that meets 1 – 4 on Mondays (SA 6 B). Tom is an inspirational instructor. There will be a chance to work outside on the grounds of Sanctuary, working from photographs and sketches. Notice local beauty and also investigate the possibility of finding abstract imagery in simple things. Flowers, trees, rooftops, pavement, songbirds, chickens—the world is a cornucopia of beauty, so come find it! Work in your favored medium or experiment with something new.

Carol Morley's

Treasures from the Seashore; Drawing with Colored pencils (SA 7)

Bring the seashore inside and have fun drawing sea shells, stones, seaweed and beach treasures in Carol Morley’s Treasures from the Seashore; Drawing with Colored pencils (SA 7). Get up close and discover those intriguing details from nature’s landscape.  Study light, color and value on form, beginning with graphite studies. Select your favorite subjects to work from and learn to create a compelling composition.  Then Carol will help you acquire some colored pencil techniques as you create a colored palette to bring your images to life.

Carol Morley also offers Colored Pencil Techniques (SA 8), a one session workshop. This versatile medium can produce so many different effects from drawing to painting. Learn how to make complex textures and patterns that are simple to do. By varying pressure or pressing into the paper surface you can achieve a look as smooth as silk or a rough and deeply textured one. You can create patterns and textures, abstract designs, decorative letters or bring in photo images to make an illustration or design.

Joshua Langstaff's Drawing Trees in the Landscape

(SA 3)

Join us for an enriching three-day workshop where we’ll explore the majesty of the wooded landscape through the medium of drawing. We’ll work on location and find impressive specimens to study in their environment. Students will explore a diverse array of techniques tailored to ignite the imagination and foster artistic growth. We’ll delve into the strategic use of preparatory drawings, a hallmark of master artists, to enhance studio paintings. For a more complete examination, consider pairing this workshop with "Painting Trees in the Landscape" (SA 4) to delve deeper into these techniques.
