This is a beginner class on basic jewelry making techniques, covering traditional techniques and their variations, with some helpful bench tips. Learn basic techniques such as sawing, soldering, riveting, forging, forming, and stone setting.

Alyssa's work celebrates whimsy and curiosity mixed with risk taking. Her class will introduce students to working from memory and life experience.

(SA 5) Sketchbook Plein Air: Secret Spots of Kittery, 6 Weeks, Wednesdays 2 - 5, 
June 22 - July 7
 
Here is your opportunity to do plein air artwork at some of the most beautiful hidden spots in Kittery. Each class session will include a visit to a Kittery Land Trust property, plein air sketchbook instruction, and a brief interpretive talk by a Land Trust nature expert. Draw and paint on the bold oceanfront at Seapoint, at an old mill dam site on Spruce Creek, right in among the buildings at a working dairy farm, and along a stream where the woods meets a pasture. Demos will be in pencil, pen and ink, and watercolor. Intrepid students of all ages and experiences are welcome.

(SA 4) Intersection of Sea & Sky, 8 Weeks, Mondays 9 -12, June 13 - August 8
 
This is a plein air painting class designed to tackle aspects of sea and land, specifically where they meet. Be it tide pools, rocks and water, sand and water, marshes—any place where water meets land. The exploration will be the seacoast area and the diversity of the offerings. We have a variety of shorelines to visit including creeks, rivers and the Great Bay.  

 

Classical Portrait Painting with Joshua Langstaff

(SA 9) Classical Portrait Oil Painting Intensive
4 Days, 10 - 5, June 24 – 27
Work with a live model to learn classical methods of creating accurate and beautiful portrait paintings in oil. Joshua demos extensively at the beginning of each day. Students will create an accurate drawing that will be transferred to canvas or panel. Attention will be given to the importance of accurately blocking in shapes. Once these are found, students will then carefully model form and construct a fully rendered painting. 
 
Painting on Location

(SA 1) EnPlein Air Landscape Painting Workshop, 4 Days, June 17, 9 – 3, June 18 – 20, 10 - 3
Each session will be split into two parts, an in studio discussion of materials and techniques, and painting on location in the seacoast area. Working directly from nature and constantly changing light, students will learn to capture the essence of a landscape quickly.
