Classes & Workshops

Symbols & Archetypes

Sean Kramer, an icon painter and former monk, lends his expertise in Symbols & Archetypes (SA 10) as you learn about basic symbols and archetypes, what they are and how they work. Fairy tales, ancient art and dreams will provide fodder for your own art making. Projects include mandalas, story maps and sacred geometry. Sean has a font of philosophic and arcane artistic information and is a fascinating guide through mythological and fairy tale realms. This is a virtual class through Zoom.

Soft Stone Carving

Antoinette Schultze
is opening her inspiring Eliot studio for students to learn Soft Stone Carving (SA 11). Toni is a magnificent carver who is able to guide students in the use of hand tools as well as several power tools. From the roughing out through the finishing process, the focus is on balance, proppotion, and refinement through shadow and light.

"Quince Sequence" by
Sydney Bella Sparrow

Critique (SA 9) is a virtual class for those of us who get to a certain point in our work, know that something isn't working, and need the help of experienced eyes to get us beyond where we can normally go. Sydney Bella Sparrow and Sean Beavers will help you with feedback on current work or series of works to help move your visions forward. Examples of contemporary and historical artists will be presented to illustrate concepts discussed.

Remote Sand Carving & Iron Pour Workshop

Josh and Lauren Dow, the proprietors of Green Foundry, offer a Remote Sand Carving & Iron Pour Workshop (SA12). Using their annual open house scratch mold techniques, they will create disposable, carvable sand molds for students to bring home for carving. Tools and instructions are provided at pick-up and a remote iron pour will fill the molds with liquid iron, creating a beautiful finished tile for you to pickup.
