Jewelry & Metalsmithing with
Alice Carroll
(SA 16 A & B) Jewelry & Metalsmithing
16 A Wednesdays 2 - 5, 16 B Wednesdays 6 - 9 October 5 - December 7
Jewelry & Metalsmithing classes with Alice Carroll meet Wednesday afternoons and evenings, covering the use of basic hand tools and the primary techniques in making jewelry and metal objects. Hot and cold connections, piercing, surface decoration, light forging, forming, and basic stone settings are all part of this introduction. Make your own holiday presents, or gift them to yourself, as you learn to work in beautiful metals. Alice also offers two Saturday morning jewelry workshops-
Forged Ginko Leaf with Bezel Pendant (SA 17) and Prong Set Cabachon Gemstone Pendant (SA 18). Alice is great at teaching these mini classes. All students come out of these workshops with beautiful jewelry to take home with them that day.
Bronze Casting- Holiday Ornaments with
Josh & Lauren Dow
Bronze Casting- Holiday Ornaments (SA 20) is a chance to work at Josh and Lauren Dow's Green Foundry on the premises here at Sanctuary Arts. Create multiple bronze castings from oil based clay originals. Make plaster molds, then cast wax copies from them. Then cast your work in bronze using the lost wax process on a fun, fiery eve. Finishing and patina come next to send you off with small holiday ornaments as presents for friends and family.
