Dr. Kelso has been one of the most popular of our Senior Scholar Speakers. He has guided our Members through a wide range of complex topics spanning the American political scene.
Mark is Professor of Political Science in the Queens University Department of Political Science and International Studies. He has been teaching at Queens since 1996, He has also taught at the University of Nevada _ Las Vegas, at Penn State University, and at St. Francis College. He received his PhD from Vanderbilt University and his BA from Murray State University.
At Queens, Mark has received the McColl Faculty Award, the Distinguished Professor Award, and the Hunter-Hamilton Love of Teaching Award, among many other awards.
He has spoken and presented research on Presidential Rhetoric, the Environment and Climate Change, International Politics, Democracy, South Africa, and many other political subjects.
Amazingly, Mark began his political training back in 1986 when he was a U.S. Senate intern for then-new Senator Mitch McConnell.

....Please renew your 2020 membership soon....
You don't want to be standing in a long line!
Renewals are $20 per person and new memberships are $30 (includes $10 for your name tag). Checks should be made payable to Senior Scholars. Please bring the correct amount if paying in cash.
You can speed up the renewal process by having your green 2019 Membership Card and $20 in your hand when you come to the Membership Desk. It is not necessary to complete a membership form for renewals unless your address, phone number or email address has changed.
You can also renew or join by mail with a completed membership form. The mailing address is on the membership form
If you use mail you will need to stop by the Membership Desk to pick up your new membership card. Your membership card is what gets you in the door at our weekly meetings--it shows that you are a current member.
We have quite a few name tags...If we are holding yours please come get it. Your name tag lets us know who you are and as some of us have "senior moments". It is much easier to converse if we know your name. Please always wear your name tag. If the magnet is a problem for you we have a remedy.
Any questions can be directed to the membership chair, Sara Haymond, at shhaymond@aol.com.
