India’s National election in 2019, which resulted in Prime Minister Modi’s BJP Party capturing 303 seats of the Parliament’s 542, upended India’s secular democratic traditions and global reputation as the world’s most populous democracy and further destabilized its precarious relationship with neighboring Pakistan. Since the election PM Modi has swiftly adopted BJP’s hardline, right wing political agenda of Hindu nationalism. Most prominently was the BJP’s move within two months of the election playing its ideological hand in a stunning strike against Muslim-majority Kashmir by stripping them of their limited political autonomy and placing them under military rule.

Renewals are $20 per person and new memberships are $30 (includes $10 for your name tag). Checks should be made payable to Senior Scholars. Please bring the correct amount if paying in cash.
You can speed up the renewal process by having your green 2019 Membership Card and $20 in your hand when you come to the Membership Desk. It is not necessary to complete a membership form for renewals unless your address, phone number or email address has changed.
You can also renew or join by mail with a completed membership form. The mailing address is on the membership form
If you use mail you will need to stop by the Membership Desk to pick up your new membership card. Your membership card is what gets you in the door at our weekly meetings--it shows that you are a current member.
We have quite a few name tags...If we are holding yours please come get it. Your name tag lets us know who you are, and as some of us have "senior moments" it is much easier to converse if we know your name. Please always wear your name tag. If the magnet is a problem for you we have a remedy.
Any questions can be directed to the membership chair, Sara Haymond, at shhaymond@aol.com.
