Scott Allen Jarrett, Artistic Director of Bachakademie Charlotte, returns to Charlotte to lead a series of "Bach Experience". His unique approach explores the meaning of music through discussion and examples. Under his direction, the Cantata Choir, an auditioned chorus, will present the Friday morning program in the Sanctuary, rather than in Wolfe Hall.

For eleven years Scott served as Director of Choruses and Assistant Conductor of the Charlotte Symphony, while also maintaining directorship roles at Boston University's Marsh Chapel and the city's Back Bay Chorale. His reputation extends nationally.

During a recent radio interview Scott shared the following: One of the things that always inspired me about Charlotte is that people here are interested in learning. it's not like they go to a concert to get their cards punched. They want to know what the music has to say. And basically, they are curious people, and this is the perfect music for them!

About the Cantata Series:

Throughout the year, Bach Akademie Charlotte performs various choral works of J.S. Bach and his contemporaries in informative, period performances. Combining the use of live excerpts, lecture notes, and thoughtful performance, the Cantata Series will inspire and educate audiences to reach a further understanding of what makes Bach's music unique in classical music repertoire.

Hinduism :: The Basics

The word 'Hindu' is derived from the river 'Sindhu' bordering the ancient Sindhu Valley of India. A long time ago, Muslims from Afghanistan, Baluchistan, and Persia could not pronounce the letter 'S' and pronounced it as a 'H.' Therefore they called the Aryan inhabitants of the Sindhu Valley 'Hindus."
