SVEN'S FUNNIES

NEWS FROM HOME

Ole has a brother named Hans. When Hans went to Europe on vacation, he called back by transatlantic telephone to see how things were going at the old homestead. The first thing Ole said was, "Da cat is dead."

"Good Lord!" shouted Hans. "Couldn't you break it to me gently. . .like, telling me da cat vas on da roof and somehow lost its grip. Den you took it to da vet and it vas very bad off for several days, and finally passed avay quietly. Vouldn't dat have been a better vay to break da news?"

Ole agreed entirely, saying, "Yah, I suppose you're right, Hans."

Hans said, "I'm glad you agree. By da way, how is Mudder?"

Ole answered, "Vell. . .Mudder's on da roof. . ."
