Sports Association Newsletter

The Sports Association is dedicated to improving the lives of persons with physical disabilities through adaptive sports and recreation.

Dear Friends of the Sports Association,

Spring has arrived and we are excited to begin our outdoor programs in May!  We are planning for our annual Gaylord Gauntlet 5K obstacle race on June 26th and need volunteers!  Join us and be a part of this amazing event!

This month, we began our spring session of Virtual Fitness via Zoom. This is a great way to get ready for summer sports from the comfort of your home!  We are also excited to be resuming our indoor kayak classes in May.

Our new Veterans Adaptive Sports Series is offering in-person archery and golf clinics, a kayak class and virtual Mindful Resilience Yoga taught by a fellow veteran.

We continue to offer small in-person programs in archery and golf.  We are following policies and procedures to keep participants as safe as possible.  If you are ready for in-person programs, we encourage you to join us.  If not, consider trying the Spring Virtual Fitness Series which are all offered virtually.

Feel free to contact the Sports Association at 203-284-2772 or visit our website at www.gaylord.org/sports for more information on any of our programs.

All the best,

The Sports Association

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Gaylord Gauntlet - Saturday, June 26, 2021
We are very excited to welcome everyone back for the 2021 Gaylord Gauntlet!  Race registration is open and we are currenlty recruiting volunteers.  Our first priority this year is providing a safe experience for all racers and volunteers.  We have decreased each wave by 50% and strict COVID policies will be in effect. Racers will still challenge themselves to conquer over 20 obstacles through the 5K course.  All the proceeds from the event directly benefit the Gaylord Sports Association. Come support us by volunteering!  Volunteer assignments include helping at obstacles, finish line area, and more!  Volunteers receive a volunteer t-shirt, box lunch, and a drink ticket.  We hope to see you on June 26th!
Paratriathlon Training Program

We are gearing up for the 2021 Paratriathlon Training Program which is scheduled to begin in May!  The application process will be opening soon.  This program is a great opportunity for adaptive athletes to compete in the sport of triathlon!  Athletes can choose to compete in all three legs of the race (swim, bike, run) or as part of a relay team.  The program culminates with the Madison Triathlon in September.  Interested athletes must apply and be selected to participate in the program.  Please contact us to learn more and for application materials.
