The Sports Association is dedicated to improving the lives of persons with physical disabilities through adaptive sports and recreation.

Dear Friends of the Sports Association, 

The Sports Association is excited to announce the dates for the 2019 Ski Club Outings! 
Our first ski trip of the season is schedule for Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Ski Sundown in New Hartford, CT.  Why not give skiing a try!

In addition to ski trips, we will continue to offer archery and boccia January -  March.  The next sesion of Indoor Kayak Classes will begin in February. 

Come on out and try a new activity or get back into your favorite sport!

Upcoming Programs
Archery Clinics

Come and try this sport of skill and accuracy by registering for an Adaptive Archery Clinic! These clinics are designed for individuals with a physical disability or visual impairment to learn about and participate in the sport of archery. Participants will receive instruction from a level IV Certified USA Archery Coach as well as Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists to give the best possible instruction and support independence. Both beginners and advanced archers are welcome and all equipment is provided.

Boccia Open Play Nights

Come and join us at a Boccia Open Play Night!  Experience the precision and strategy of this throwing sport. Open play nights are for all individuals regardless of ability. This event will feature warmups, training and strategy drills, and team play.  Learn techniques and play with a spirited group of experienced boccia players.

Indoor Kayak Classes
Adaptive Kayak Classes are designed to provide adults with a physical disability the opportunity to learn or re-learn to kayak. Professional kayak instructors teach the basics of paddle strokes, kayak equipment, safety and how to adapt or modify for individual needs. This is a two-part class during two consecutive weeks. Once a participant completes both classes, they will be eligible to participate in open water paddles with the Sports Association during the summer months.

Adaptive Archery Club
The Gaylord Sports Association Adaptive Archery Club is a dedicated group of archers who meet throughout the year for both indoor and outdoor practice at Gaylord Hospital. Club practices are prior to the regular archery clinics.  The club is for Sports Association members who want more time to shoot with other experienced archers. This group works on advanced archery technique, participates in games, individual and team scoring, and most of all has a bunch of fun! For information on eligibility, what is required, and how to apply for membership, please contact the Sports Association at sports@gaylord.org or 203-284-2772.   See you on the range!
About Our Program and Events

The Sports Association is a program of Gaylord Hospital and is based out of Wallingford, CT. We are a Paralympic Sport Club and chapter member of Disabled Sports USA. We serve adults with physical disabilities and visual impairments and welcome new members to join us. All programs require registration and some programs have registration deadlines. We recommend early registration since some programs fill quickly. Call us at 203-284-2772 with any questions or to register. Most events are free unless otherwise noted.
