Sports Association Newsletter

The Sports Association is dedicated to improving the lives of persons with physical disabilities through adaptive sports and recreation.

Dear Friends of the Sports Association,

Winter is right around the corner, and we are looking forward to this year's ski and snowboard outings at Ski Sundown!  Join us for the Discovery Night  on 12/16 to learn about this program. We are also excited to announce a new virtual fitness program in January - Adaptive Boxing!  Our winter Veteran Adaptive Sports Clinic Series will be running this winter, which includes programs in yoga, boccia, archery and kayak.  We continue to offer our indoor adaptive sports clinics in archery, boccia and golf.  It may be getting cold, but there are lots of ways to stay active and involved!

Feel free to contact the Sports Association at 203-284-2772 or visit our website at www.gaylord.org/sports for more information on any of our programs.

All the best,

The Sports Association

New Putting Green
We are excited to announce that our refurbished putting green was completed in November!  Thank you to the Werth Family Foundation, the Connecticut Section PGA Golf Foundation, the Barrett Fund and ongoing support from the Estate of Aldonna B. Wedge for making this project possible! We are looking forward to using the new green during our adaptive golf clinics as well as with our in-patients during therapeutic recreation sessions.
 National Golf Competitions
Recently, two Gaylord Sports Association Members competed at national level golf competitions. John Casolo, a long time Sports Association Golf Club Member, competed in the Regional and National US Blind Golf Association National Champioships in Florida.

Todd Blosser, a long time member of the Sports Association, golf clinic volunteer, and frequent tournament player, competed in the National Amputee Golf Association National Tournament in Las Vegas.  Both golfers enjoyed the competitive nature of the tournaments.
