News
Gaylord Gauntlet
The 2018 Gaylord Gauntlet was a huge success!  The event was held on June 23, 2018 and SOLD OUT with 1,000 runners registered.  This includes 11 athletes with varying ability levels including spinal cord injury, limb loss, visual impairment and stroke. This year, the Sports Association Team tackled the course with adaptive athlete, Jillian Harpin! Jill utilized a special all-terrain wheelchair to navigate the course, along with a climbing harness and belayer for the high obstacles and a sled for the ground obstacles. Jill trained for months to prepare for the race, and she conquered every single obstacle with support from the Sports Association Team!  Congratulations to Jill and all of the adaptive athletes who completed the course!  A special thank you to the 130 volunteers who helped to make this day possible!  All of the race proceeds support the Gaylord Sports Association adaptive sports programs.  Check out the links below for news coverage and videos.  Additional photos can be found on the Gaylord Gauntlet Facebook page.
For The Love Of The Game Award
The "For the Love of the Game Award" is presented annually to an “ individual who exemplifies a tireless passion for the sport of golf”. On Monday, June 25, 2018, the "For the Love of the Game" Award was presented to John Casolo.  John is a long time member of the Gaylord Sports Association Golf Club and has a tireless passion for the game of golf. John’s visual impairment has never deterred him in pursing his passion for golf – in fact at the young age of 86 (as John would say), he still regularly competes in blind golf tournaments throughout the country, including the US Blind Golf Association National Championship. Congratulations to John and we hope to see you on the course for years to come!
