Sports Association Newsletter

The Sports Association is dedicated to improving the lives of persons with physical disabilities through adaptive sports and recreation.

Dear Friends of the Sports Association,

Spring has arrived and we are excited to begin our outdoor programs!  We are planning for our annual Gaylord Gauntlet 5K obstacle race on June 26th and need volunteers!  Join us and be a part of this amazing event!

Are you interested in swimming, cycling, and running?  Apply for our Paratriathlon Training program!

We continue to offer small in-person programs in archery and golf.  We are adding an indoor kayak class in May and a Veterans only Kayak class in June. We are following policies and procedures to keep participants as safe as possible.

If you are ready for in-person programs, we encourage you to join us.  If not, consider trying the Spring Virtual Fitness Series which are all offered virtually through the end of May.

Feel free to contact the Sports Association at 203-284-2772 or visit our website at www.gaylord.org/sports for more information on any of our programs.

All the best,

The Sports Association

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Gaylord Gauntlet - Saturday, June 26, 2021
We are very excited to welcome everyone back for the 2021 Gaylord Gauntlet!  The race is FULL, but we are still in need of volunteers.  Volunteer assignments include helping at obstacles, finish line area, and more!  Volunteers receive a volunteer t-shirt, box lunch, and a drink ticket. Our first priority is providing a safe experience for all racers and volunteers.  We have decreased each wave by 50% and strict COVID policies will be in effect. Racers will still challenge themselves to conquer over 20 obstacles through the 5K course.  All the proceeds from the event directly benefit the Gaylord Sports Association. We hope to see you on June 26th!
Sports Association Ambassadors
Fundraising Campaign

The Sports Association Ambassadors Fundraising Campaign is underway! Join this group of volunteer ambassadors by making a donation, of any amount, and support the Gaylord Sports Association. The Sports Association is fully funded through individual donors, grants and fundraisers, and every donation helps to support our mission in providing adaptive sports and recreation to individuals with a physical disability. This campaign is running in conjunction with our premier fundraising event, the Gaylord Golf Classic. This mini fundraising campaign will run from May 1-14, 2021, but donations can be made at any time. Thank you to all our volunteer ambassadors who are advocating and working to support the Gaylord Sports Association!

Paratriathlon Team Applications

We are gearing up for the 2021 Paratriathlon season which is scheduled to begin at the end of the month!  The application process is now open!  This program is a great opportunity for adaptive athletes to compete in the sport of triathlon.  Athletes can choose to compete in all three legs of the race (swim, bike, run) or as part of a relay team.  The program culminates with the Madison Triathlon in September 11, 2021.  Interested athletes must apply and be selected to participate in the program.  This program has a fee that is paid upon acceptance into the program.  Please contact us for more information or use the link below to apply.
