Dear Friends of the Sports Association,
 
Our Fall schedule is in full swing. We have begun virtual adaptive boxing, seated yoga classes and boccia open play sessions! And our monthly archery and golf clinics continue. Both the Gaylord Wolfpack Sled Hockey Team and the Gaylord Jammers Wheelchair Rugby Teams are into thier seasons - contact us if you are interested in more information on either team!  Plus, winter is in the air and our ski and snowbard discovery night is coming up on December 8th! Join us to learn more about this program. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and we hope to see you soon!

Gaylord Jammers Wheelchair Rugby
The Gaylord Jammers Wheelchair Rugby Team is practicing weekly with coach Dominic Colavito! Practices are held at Wallingford Park and Recreation on Sundays. The team is a member of the US Wheelchair Rugby Association.The team is recruiting new players, please contact us if you are interested!   
Gaylord Wolfpack Sled Hockey Team
The Gaylord Wolfpack Sled Hockey Team are off to a great start with a 4-0 record  this season! They have competed in two league competitions so far as part of the Northeast Sled Hockey League. To check out where they are headed next, view the schedule at neshl.org. Also, we are recruiting players!  If you are interested in joining the team, please let us know! Our Indoor Adaptive Archery Clinics are a great opportunity to try archery or practice your technique. Come learn from USA Archery certified coaches and experienced archers.  All skill levels are welcome and equipment is provided.

Golf Clinics
Golf clinics provide the opportunity to work with a trained PGA professional, Certified Recreation Therapists and volunteers to adapt the sport of golf, overcome barriers, and support independence. Clinics will include driving and putting.  Beginners and returning participants are welcome and all equipment is provided

Boccia Open Play
Boccia is a throwing sport of precision which has been adapted for athletes of all abilities using a few modifications. The object is to place balls closest to the target ball by throwing or rolling the ball using a ramp. Games are played one on one, in pairs, and teams of three. All are welcome to learn this game of skill and strategy!

Adaptive Boxing
Join us on Wednesdays at 3:00 PM through December 14 for this fun and fast paced cardio workout with coach Pierre Fallot. Everyone can participate at their own pace, seated or standing and no equipment is necessary. This class will challenge you both mentally and physically as you learn different boxing moves and sequences. Each class is 45 minutes and includes a warm-up, stretching, boxing and cardiovascular exercises.

Mindful Resilience Yoga

Join the Gaylord Sports Association and instructor Rebecca Smith for the last Mindful Resilience Yoga class of 2022. This form of yoga incorporates gentle yoga postures, movement sequences, breath work and guided meditation to help you focus clearly, move mindfully and practice gratitude. This class is designed for all ability levels and will be taught primarily in the seated position in a chair with modifications to fit each individual’s capabilities. Participate in person at Gaylord or virtually via Zoom.

Program Registration 
Pre-registration is required for all programs. Please contact us with questions or to register by emailing sports@gaylord.org or by calling 203-284-2772. To maintain as safe an environment as possible, COVID-19 protocols will be used for all attendees, staff and volunteers. Surgical style face masks are required if in the hospital. Clinics will have a maximum number of participants per session. Some programs have essential eligibility requirements for safety.  Cost is FREE unless otherwise noted.
