Sunrise Drive FFO Digest
Oct 20, 2015 - Vol. 1 Issue #2
Hello!
The school year is off to a great and busy start!

Sunrise's Fall 2015 Book Fair was the largest success to date, a HUGE thank you to Book Fair Chair, Anna Ames for making all this possible for our school!

Thank you to all the families that helped beautify our school at the Family Fix-Up and Garden Clean-Up day on October 3rd. Thank you so much to the Schwartz and Franklin families for stepping up to chair the event and to Principal Davidson for coordinating the morning.

Thank you so much to Kate Spaulding, FFO Secretary for coordinating a sell-out full house at the Henry Porter Gaslight Theater / Sunrise community building event on October 4th. It was so great to see all the families and children having a such a fun time.

Now, get ready for Sunrise's signature event: Spiders and Cider on Friday, October 30th from 5-8pm. We will need all hands on deck to ensure the success of this fantastic event for our children.

Volunteering at Sunrise
Volunteers organize community and fundraising events and provide support in the classrooms to enrich learning and foster community spirit.

Thank you to Rachel Hollander for putting together Sunrise's Picnic and Play on September 25th! It was great to see so many families meet up and the children get to play on the playground after hours. Added bonus was Kona Ice for dessert, and the Book Fair being open for all families to shop.

Emily Franklin, Garden Chair, wants to thank everyone for helping with the Garden Clean Up Day. It was a huge success thanks to all our wonderful volunteers!

Spiders and Ciders (Oct 30): Students look forward to the Halloween-themed carnival each year at Sunrise. From the Cake Walk to the Maze to Thriller and the Monster Mash. It's all set up, staffed, and packed up by volunteers. A thrilling chance to help!

Robotics (all year): with four rotations and all 2nd-5th grades participating, there are many opportunites to help kids read the instructions and figure out how to program and operate Lego robots. It's super-fun and no computer/robot/cyborg experience is required!

A big thank you to all the past volunteers, and if you've haven't yet volunteered at Sunrise before, please give it a try. You might just discover it brings a new element to your relationship with your child and her/his school. You also might enjoy it!

Sad Ball

Ball Donation
Sunrise kids love to play soccer and basketball at recess. Unfortunately, many of the balls are in bad shape from all the use. If you have a new or used ball in good condition, please donate it. Active bodies help keep young minds active in class!

Please drop your ball donations at the front office and contact Valorie Colson ( email) with questions. We want to give the school at least twenty (20) new balls, but right now we only have one donation.
