Principal's Message
You know that the beginning is the most important part of any work,
especially in the case of a young and tender thing;
for that is the time at which the character is being formed.

Welcome to our 2019-20 school year. It is such a privilege to partner with you and your child’s pursuit of truth, beauty, and goodness. There are many wonderful schools in our area, and we are thankful you have chosen to walk with us in your child's educational journey.
The projects that took place this summer did not seem as big as last year, but it did not take much time for our students to notice the new carpet that brightens our hallways and the character wall on the playground. There were several children that spent most of their playtime scouring the area for the rock that they painted last year. A huge thank you goes out to David Tsang and his “dude crew” that supported us in the tear down and the reconstruction of the wall.
Listed below are a few upcoming events and reminders (some repeated) that will help you over the next several weeks.
Car Pool - Attached are the updated documents that will help you navigate carpool. Please, please, please be 100% attentive during carpool. The use of your cell phone during carpool puts both our staff and our students at risk. Last year we had several close calls. Student and staff safety is a priority.
In an effort to keep our students away from the dust bowl/mud pit and to reduce the number of students near the road we are moving our 2nd graders to the high school side for PM pick-up. As construction picks up again, we would like to keep our children away from that area as much as possible. Please take the time to review the map and the explanation that is paired with it. Back to School Night (parents of 1st-6th grade students only) will take place on August 28th from 6:00-8:00 pm. Do not miss out on the opportunity to understand the expectations from your student’s teacher and grade level.
Calendar- Attached is a supplement to the published 2019-20 school calendar. I wanted to provide some clarification to support you this school year.
Arrival Times: Our school day begins at 8:15 AM every day. Please be sure to have your child/children here on time. Students who are consistently tardy are at a clear disadvantage and usually arrive feeling frantic and unprepared. Classroom doors open at 8:05 AM to allow students to settle in before the start of the day. All students who arrive after 8:15 AM must sign in at the front office with a parent. If your child is sick, please report the absence by calling the attendance line at 719-484-0081.
Dr. Mayfield returns to TCA as a resource to our parents and staff. He will be addressing our parent community on Tuesday, August 27 at 6:00-8:00 in the Brown Center for the Arts on the North Campus. Sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A044FAAA82AABFA7-aparents
Testing by Appointment- August 22-23, 2019. Your teacher (K-6) will be contacting you about your appointment time for you to bring your child to school to participate in literacy testing.
At TCA, we offer a unique, classical model of education. We strive to live out our Titan's Creed every day. It is a worthy challenge to work toward, and we are thankful for so many families that want to strive toward that goal as well.
A Titan's Creed
Titans endeavor to recognize and pursue truth, beauty, and goodness.
Titans celebrate virtue in scholarship, relationship, and citizenship.
Titans take ownership of and find joy in learning.
Titans value our responsibilities above our rights.
Titans love, respect, and protect one another.
Striving to be our best, do our best,
and give our best to the world,
in Mind, Body, and Spirit,
We Are Titans!
In Relationship,
