STEM PROGRAM FOR HOMESCHOOLERS

STARBASE is a Department of Defense (DoD) funded program for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) for 5th graders. There are over 50 sites nationwide. We are the only STARBASE in Colorado. We started in Dec. 2014.There is no cost to attend and students and teachers/parents bring a cold lunch. We meet one day each week for five weeks. Students receive five hours of fun, engaging "hands-on minds-on" STEM lessons and activities. We provide all supplies. We are currently booked for this year but you can register for next school year.

Typical physics lesson: Learn about Newton's Second Law of Motion then launch a mini-trebuchet varying the counterweights. Students see the formula F=M times A in ACTION!

Chemistry: Molecular Modeling includes a basic intro into the periodic table of elements and then students build molecules with molecular modeling kits. Ex. They connect two Hydrogen atoms with one Oxygen atom to create the molecular structure of water.
