From the Principal’s desk…

Hello CSP Families,

TCA Mission Statement

The Classical Academy exists to assist parents in their mission to develop exemplary citizens, equipped with analytical thinking skills, virtuous character, and a passion for learning, all built upon a solid foundation of knowledge

TCA’s Core Values document states that the school’s vision is to help develop exemplary citizens in mind, body and spirit. Specifically, we strive to nurture students to produce fruitful work by continually feeding a Mind which is attentive, analytical and discerning. Our character focus in March is the importance of exercising Critical Thinking and Judgment. The Foundation for Critical Thinking developed five standards to help children learn to think better. We encourage parents to teach these and then interact with your children in ways that reinforce the five standards.

• Invite children to BE CLEAR by asking for explanations and examples when they don’t understand something. Let children know it is okay to be confused and to ask questions.
• Urge children to BE ACCURATE, to check to see if something is true by researching the facts.
• Encourage children to BE RELEVANT by discussing other topics that are pertinent to the discussion or problem at hand. Help them stay on track by linking related and meaningful information to the question they are trying to answer or the topic they are learning about.
• Support your child’s ability to BE LOGICAL. Help him/her see how things fit together.
• Set expectations that your child BE FAIR. Promote empathy in his/her thought process.
Critical thinking is a habit that must be practiced daily. We effectively lay this foundation in our CSP studies.

In partnership,

Susan Nosal

CSP POLICY

ATTENDANCE POLICY
Parents - if your child will be absent please call 487-2000 and leave details on our attendance line. Students who are chronically absent and exceed 3 absences (6 Kinder half days) in a semester, excused or unexcused, risk not successfully completing the semester.

IF A STUDENT EXCEEDS THE MAXIMUM ALLOWED ABSENCES, he/she must attend the final two class sessions of the school year or the student will be disenrolled by the Registrar. You will need to put your student back on the waitlist. Consistent attendance at CSP should be a top priority since we are a part-time program. See ATTENDANCE POLICY on the website: CSP/Parents/CSP Handbook/Attendance Policy.

DELAYED SCHOOL HOURS
In the event we have a weather 2-hour delay, please follow these times:

*Students may wear denim bottoms + a uniform top on delayed start days.
NOTE: If we have a 2-hr. delay on an in-service date (Apr. 20), students will not come to class. Only teachers report 2 hrs. late and stay for in-service.
