From the Principal’s desk…

Hello CSP Families,

Recently 2nd graders read the book titled The Boy Who Cried Wolf, and discussed the consequences of the bored boy’s actions. The students were asked what they do when they are bored. Not a single child mentioned technology. Mrs. Ahnfeldt was thrilled with their responses which included playing with dolls or Legos, shooting hoops, jumping on the trampoline, reading, writing stories, drawing pictures and playing with younger siblings. I encourage parents to read this article, Overuse of Electronics is not a Good Thing, which cites the effects of technology on our children. Way to go parents! CSP is so proud that your children think of creative ways to spend their free time besides turning to technology.

In partnership,

Susan Nosal

IMPORTANT DATES - CSP Calendar of Events

CURRENT NEWS

THIS WEEK!
CSP CASUAL DAY
Week of Mar. 20 - 23
Students may wear a modest outfit of their choice (no holes, frayed edges, no short skirts/dresses, inappropriate t-shirt logos, etc.) Students may dress up or down, but always in appropriate style.

CHARACTER TEAMS
Recently, CSP 4th graders met with their Kinder buddies to discuss bravery. The 4th graders read stories to their buddies about bravery that they had written in their legacy journals. Then the Kindergarteners shared about a time when they were brave. This led to a rich group discussion about what it means to be brave.

TCA BLOOD DRIVE
Mark your calendars for the 6th annual TCA Blood Drive on Friday April 14th. TCA High School will again be partnering with Penrose St. Francis on TCA day to help keep their blood bank in full supply. SPRING CLEANING?
The TCA Junior High is busily preparing for the TCA Day Carnival on May 5, 2017! We are in need of gently used prizes for our carnival booths. Items could include toys, games, frames, school supplies, stuffed animals, trinkets, etc. Please drop off donations at the junior high office. Questions: Please direct inquiries to Candus Muir at muirc@asd20.org.

EAST LIBRARY POLICY
Students are always welcome to come by the library after school. However, they need to check out their books and then be dismissed, rather than staying in the library. They are welcome to stay and do homework, read, etc. until 4:00 closing time if they are accompanied by a parent. With hundreds of children at our campus, it is not feasible to have library staff supervise students an extra 15-30 minutes.

CSP POLICY

ATTENDANCE POLICY
Parents - if your child will be absent please call 487-2000 and leave details on our attendance line. Students who are chronically absent and exceed 3 absences (6 Kinder half days) in a semester, excused or unexcused, risk not successfully completing the semester.

IF A STUDENT EXCEEDS THE MAXIMUM ALLOWED ABSENCES, he/she must attend the final two class sessions of the school year or the student will be disenrolled by the Registrar. You will need to put your student back on the waitlist. Consistent attendance at CSP should be a top priority since we are a part-time program. See ATTENDANCE POLICY on the website: CSP/Parents/CSP Handbook/Attendance Policy.

DELAYED SCHOOL HOURS

*Students may wear denim bottoms + a uniform top on delayed start days.
NOTE: If we have a 2-hr. delay on an in-service date (Apr. 20), students will not come to class. Only teachers report 2 hrs. late and stay for in-service.
