GRAMMAR BASICS FOR HOMESCHOOLERS

We ask parents to help students include these Grammar basics on every written assignment:

  • Begin sentences with a capital letter.
  • Use correct punctuation including end marks.
  • Proper capitalization of names, cities, states, proper nouns
  • Correct use of apostrophes to show possession
  • Complete sentences – no fragments
  • Does the sentence have a subject and verb?
  • The complete sentence should make sense.
  • Legible handwriting
  • Correct Spelling

It’s important that students master and apply these foundational skills from Gr. 1 - 8.

Warmly,
Susan Nosal
