From the Principal’s desk…

Hello CSP Parents, Come enjoy the CSP Dessert-Square Dance event this Friday evening, 6:30 – 9:00 in the East gym. Bring your favorite dessert to share. Lively square dance callers will lead a variety of group dances. CSP staff and families are invited. Yee haw!

Monday classes dismiss at noon on Thurs. Nov. 9 for staff in-service. Carpool at usual locations. Denim day for staff and students. Please be punctual for noon pick-up as the CSP carpool will go very quickly and our staff needs to return to the building for in-service.

Dessert: Bring your family’s favorite dessert along with serving utensils. CSP will provide paper goods and drinks.
Dust off your favorite cowboy hat, polish those cowboy boots and bring the whole family out for a fun evening of dancin’. It’s a great place to connect with old friends and make new ones too!

ANNUAL VETERAN’S DAY ASSEMBLY

Friday November 10

9:30am-10:45am

As part of our Core Values, The Classical Academy pays tribute to all the men and women who have bravely served our great nation as a member of the US Armed Forces. All are invited to share in this patriotic assembly to honor and recognize veterans and current-serving military of our TCA community. Keynote Speaker, CP Parent, Victor Marx will present “The Value of Veterans”. We will reserve seats for our CSP families or individual students who wish to attend. Please email nupchurch@asd20.org with the number of seats requested. There will be a reception for veterans and their families immediately following the assembly in the TCA North Library.

WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA

Donation deadline Nov. 27

TCA will support the Wreaths Across America program. There are several ways you can participate. TCA families can donate a wreath to be placed at Memorial Gardens Cemetery (deadline Nov. 27) or volunteer for the wreath laying ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 16. Please click here for more information.

CSP Gr. 1-6 – WINTER CONCERT

The Gr. 1-6 Winter Concert is Thurs. Nov. 30.
For grades 1st – 3rd, the concert will begin at 5:15 pm. Parents, please check your student in by 4:45pm in the gym.

For grades 4th-6th, the concert will begin at 7pm. Parents, please check your student in by 6:45pm in the gym.

Lyrics and a music CD were sent home in your child’s backpack recently. Please use these resources to practice for our annual festive concert. Your help at home is greatly appreciated!
*CSP will provide cookies for the dessert reception. Please come, relax and enjoy the show with your family.

CHARACTER

November Character Focus: Gratitude and Bravery, Courage & Kindness. Teachers will note which character strengths were discussed each week so you may continue those conversations at home. CSP classes will also implement Peer Mentoring, i.e. pairing older and younger classes to engage in character discussions and activities together. Mentoring across grade levels is a part of the Board initiative for enriching TCA’s Character Education program.

A variety of homeschool materials and required CSP curriculum are available to check out for a minimal refundable cash deposit. You may check out the materials for the entire year. Please make an appointment with Ruth Kozyra, CSP Curriculum & Program Specialist, at rkozyra@asd20.org, 487-2027.

3rd – 8th GRADE TYPING PAL UPDATE:

Due to unforeseen circumstances, all Typing Pal passwords have been changed to titans. Your student’s user name will remain the same: first initial and last name, all in lower case. Please look for an email from your child’s teacher regarding this change and the benefits of using Typing pal.

CSP POLICY

UNIFORMS

View the elementary uniform policy and JH uniform policy on the CSP website. Neutral shoes are best. Students need to wear sneakers on PE days. JH students wear an athletic uniform for PE. Students may wear a solid color crew neck sweatshirt, cardigan sweater or TCA logo hoodie in the classroom in approved TCA colors - navy, hunter green, red, or white.

BOX TOPS
Turn in those box tops and soup labels you have collected over the year. Box Tops are worth 10 cents; bonus Box Tops are worth more. We earn thousands of dollars every year for TCA East & CSP! If you have a King Soopers or Safeway card, you can register them at eLabelsforEducation.com and earn bonus points for TCA East. Clip the UPC codes on the label and turn them in at school.

KING SOOPERS NEIGHBORHOOD REWARDS PROGRAM
CSP has earned over $2,266 to date from the King Soopers rewards program. You can pick up a reloadable gift card in the CSP office. The initial cost is $5 per card, and the card is pro-loaded with $5. So the card is FREE! Every time you reload the card, CSP receives 5% back from King Soopers. Please consider supporting CSP with this easy program. For more details, contact the CSP office at 487-2000.

TUTORING AVAILABLE - Through Children’s Literacy Center

Do you have children who attend your school that are struggling with reading? Did you know they could receive free tutoring through Children’s Literacy Center (CLC) at the Monument Library?

Children’s Literacy Center (CLC) is a local non-profit organization whose mission is to build a life of success through a foundation of literacy…ONE child at a time. Questions? NOVEMEBER EVENTS – PPLD Library 21C

  • AfterMath: Wednesdays from 3:30-6 p.m. Is math homework getting you down? Our experienced math tutors can help you improve your grades and take the stress out of math.
  • · Paws to Read: Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Kids can practice reading aloud and improve fluency by sharing a story with one of our loveable Paws to Read Therapy dogs!

  • · Elementary Make/Tween Twist Thursdays: Thursday, November 2 and Thursday, November 16 from 4:30-5:15 p.m. This drop-in program for 5- to 12-year-olds features a lab where we will tinker with items resulting in creating or dismantling.

  • · Lego Build: Saturday, November 4 from 10:30-12:30. LEGO enthusiasts of all ages! Join us for our monthly LEGO Build! We'll provide the LEGOs, you bring the creativity! Open to everyone. Please do not bring your own LEGOs (however, donations are gladly accepted!).

  • · Kids Movie: Beauty and the Beast (2017): Saturday, November 18 1:30 p.m. Come watch a movie with us on the Saturday afternoon.

  • · Saturday SALT: For the Birds: Saturday, November 25 1:30-2:15 p.m. This drop-in program for 5- to 12-year-olds revisits favorite S.A.L.T. (Science, Art, Literature, Technology) activities.

25th Annual Betty Field Memorial Youth Writing Contest (2018)

All 6th through 12th grade students in El Paso County and in areas served by the Pikes Peak Library District are invited to enter the Betty Field Memorial Youth Writing Contest and earn top honors plus cash prizes.
