Greetings and Happy New Year to all! In 2024, we look forward to many exciting things happening in the combustion community. For example, please join me in welcoming the new Singapore Section of The Combustion Institute. We will also soon begin the election of new CI Board members, while thanking those whose terms are complete. And of course, the CI's 40th International Symposium -

Also this year, we will celebrate the 70th Anniversary of The Combustion Institute. Incorporated in 1954, The Combustion Institute has long served as the preeminent collection of combustion science professionals in both education and industry. Over the years, CI members have made a profound impact on the advancement of combustion science, including practical everyday contributions, and fundamental physics and chemistry. For example, the discovery of cleaner and more efficient energy conversion processes, as well as the control of flame spread from urban and wild fires. With the continued growth of the CI and our plans to reach larger audiences and expand diversity, the future looks very promising.
During this year, we plan to celebrate and highlight the achievements of the past 70 years. We welcome all stories, photos, and recollections to commemorate this anniversary. The Combustion Institute is a member-driven, non-profit scientific organization. I congratulate you on your past success and look forward to your future accomplishments.
-Philippe Dagaut
