National Family Camp 2023 |

|
National Family Camp starts next Tuesday in Ngāruawāhia. We have a fantastic programme lined up, full of interesting and fun sessions for adults and for children. The theme for this camp is animals, so we're making masks, playing animal games, and heading to the Hamilton Zoo.
Young families, where a child is newly diagnosed with a bleeding disorder, often need support and information to manage the impact of the disorder on their family. The National Family Camp enables parents to access education in a supportive environment, while their children are enjoying their own recreational programmes. Opportunities are included for families to mix and mingle so that they can establish friendships and develop support networks with other families who understand and live with bleeding disorders.
We're sure that this is going to be an excellent event. Keep your eyes peeled for the report, and some photos, in the next issue of Bloodline.

World Haemophilia Day 2023 |

April 17, 2023 is World Hemophilia Day. The theme of the event this year is “Access for All: Prevention of bleeds as the global standard of care”.
Building on last year’s theme, the call to action for the community in 2023 is to come together and advocate with local policy makers and governments for improved access to treatment and care with an emphasis on better control and prevention of bleeds for all people with bleeding disorders. This means the implementation of home-based treatment as well as prophylactic treatment to help those individuals have a better quality of life.
On this special day, think about wearing something red, and take the time to acknowledge people with bleeding disorders in your community. |

Time to head to the stationers, because our very own Tineke Maoate, and her whānau, feature in the next issue of the New Zealand Woman's Weekly, out 10 April!
Tineke is a tireless worker for the bleeding disorder community, as a board member and as a leader in the Midland region. She is also very active in other capacities in her own local community.
We love Tineke, and think that she deserves all the recognition she gets. So, if you are able, see if you can get hold of a copy, and find out a bit about just what makes Tineke such a star! |

In order to get the most out of your membership, it's important to keep your details up to date. The key details are email address and date of birth.
Posting invitations and information to members is an expensive business, and where possible we would prefer to make contact electronically. If you have an email address, but you're not sure that we have it, please let us know.
If we have no DOB for you we can't filter you in to age-based mailing lists, like Adult Weekend, Youth Camp, and Women's Weekend. Again, if you're not sure that we have your DOB, please let us know. |
