National Family Camp 2023

Registrations are still open for the premier event in the HFNZ calendar. The National Family Camp brings families together to access education in a supportive environment, while children are enjoying their own recreational programmes.

As always, this is a fantastic opportunity to connect with our people from around the country. There'll be fun, education, activities, socialising, and more!

Spaces are limited, so it is important that you register ASAP to avoid disappointment!

When: Tuesday 11 April to Friday 14 April 2023.

Who: The camp is open to families with children with bleeding disorders aged 0 to 13 years who are financial members of HFNZ. The camp is for the immediate family, including siblings.

Cost: There is no fee to attend this event, no matter where you live. However, if you feel like donating to support HFNZ programmes you can do that here: haemophilia.donatenow.co.nz

How to register: Click the button below, or register online at: https://nfc-2022.lilregie.com/, or email admin@haemophilia.org.nz.

Registration deadline: Please register by 01 March 2023.
Who wants to be a leader at camp?
One of the most important elements of national family camp is the participation of HFNZ members as leaders, and this year is no different.

HFNZ are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help run our Kids Club , Mini-Kids Club, and Crèche. Coordinators will also be present for each programme, but we need some extra people to help ensure these children have a fantastic time while their parents are learning all they can about raising a child with a bleeding disorder.

If you are available and keen – please let us know as soon as possible.

In preparation for the weekend there is leadership training starting on Monday 10 April. It is preferable that all youth leaders attend. Please indicate your availability for this.

Further information is available by contacting Midland outreach worker Loren Silva at 021 762 121 or by emailing loren@haemophilia.org.nz.
Ways we can help
With all the weather-related hardship going around at the moment, now is a great time to remind you about the various grants available.

HFNZ offers needs grants to those suffering hardship who need support managing their bleeding disorder, or that of a member of their whānau. These grants are subject to HFNZ policy, and can be applied in a variety of ways.

We are also able to contribute to the cost of supportive footwear, exercise programmes, and defensive driving courses. There are specific criteria that accompany each of these grants.

To find out more, contact your outreach worker, or email us at info@haemophilia.org.nz

We're recruiting
HFNZ are currently looking for a new Southern Outreach Worker, based in Christchurch, to support and advocate for members in the South Island, for up to 32 hours per week.

Our talented and committed team of outreach workers provide advocacy, education, care, and guidance to people and whānau affected by bleeding disorders throughout NZ, supporting them to manage their own health and wellbeing.

We work with people from a wide range of backgrounds, cultural contexts, and life spans, from birth to death, and engage with diverse communities. Part of the role also includes organising and facilitating events for our membership.

If you're a skilled relationship builder, a team player with a can-do attitude, and have a proven ability to manage your own workload independently, then this role is for you.

A copy of the position description is available here.

If this sounds like you, or someone you know, contact us at info@haemophilia.org.nz to find out how to apply.
Youth sailing event
Unfortunately, due to tight timeframes and low registration numbers, this event has had to be postponed until summer 2023/24.

Thank you to those who had already registered. We'll try this fabulous event again later in the year.

Keep your member details up to date
In order to get the most out of your membership, it's important to keep your details up to date. The key details are email address and date of birth.

Posting invitations and information to members is an expensive business, and where possible we would prefer to make contact electronically. If you have an email address, but you're not sure that we have it, please let us know.

If we have no DOB for you we can't filter you in to age-based mailing lists, like Adult Weekend, Youth Camp, and Women's Weekend. Again, if you're not sure that we have your DOB, please let us know.
