The latest from the Haemophilia Foundation of New Zealand - November 2020
Adult Weekend 2020 was a great success!
It was fantastic to see HFNZ members from around the country together again at Adult Weekend 2020. After a long year, with few chances to touch-base, it was nice to be able to rekindle old friendshiups, and learn new things.

The weekend went very well. There was a variety of activities, and several chances to get out and about in Christchurch. We were also privileged to hear presentations from Dr Sharon Green and from Dr Julia Phillips.

There is a full report in the latest issue of Bloodline, in the meantime, here are some images of a very successful event.

Dustin used an ACEET grant to retrain as a truck driver.
 How ACEET can help you!
The Allan Coster Educational Endowment Trust (ACEET) offers grants to help people with haemophilia and other rare bleeding disorders get access to vocational training and education. Over the years, ACEET has helped many people to change their lives, providing them with the financial support for their education that they may not otherwise have been able to access.

The ACEET grants are not just for university study. The ACEET trustees will consider applications for primary, secondary, undergraduate, postgraduate, trades, or vocational training. That means, if you have a bleeding disorder, a dream, and a course that will help you to get where you want to be, then an ACEET grant could be what you need.

Previous recipients have used their grant to complete courses from reading assistance, to business management, to graphic design. If it is going to improve your prospects, then it's worth getting an application in.

Grant applications are considered three times a year. To check the next application deadline, or apply for a grant, just contact your Outreach Worker.
 Bloodline is on its way...
The final issue of Bloodline for 2020 is being printed as we speak, and will soon find its way to letterboxes around NZ. The December issue is full of great content, including:
  • Reflections on the year from President Deon York and CEO Sue Ellis
  • A report on Adult Weekend 2020
  • Our People: Stephanie Coulman
  • A look how the Allan Coster Educational Endowment Trust could help you
  • and much more...
You can avoid the wait, and read it all today! Just click here.

If you already get Bloodline by mail, and you want to reduce your environmental footprint by receiving the email version instead, contact Phil at comms@haemophilia.org.nz.
 Member Details
In order to increase the reach of HFNZ communications, and improve member outcomes, we continue to update member details in the database. The most pressing details are email addresses and dates of birth. Over the coming weeks HFNZ administrator Leanne Pearce will be contacting members to update their details.

Having a current email address for you and your whānau is important as we try to manage costs. Posting invitations and information to members is an expensive business, and where possible we would prefer to make contact electronically. If you have an email address, but you're not sure that we have it, please let your Outreach Worker know.

The other essential detail is date of birth. We need this so that we can be sure you're on the list for age-restricted events, like Adult Weekend, Youth Camp, and Women's Weekend. If we have no DOB for you the database won't filter you in to age-based mailing lists. Again, if you're not sure that we have your DOB, please let your OR Worker know.
