Welcome aboard Loren
HFNZadmin
We are very pleased to welcome new Midland outreach worker, Loren Silva, into the fold. Loren takes over from Laura-Lee on Tuesday 04 October.

Loren comes to us from a peer-support role, and has a range of skills that will compliment our outreach team. She has particular strength in event planning, and is looking forward to getting her teeth into HFNZ camps and workshops.

Here's what Loren has to say:

Kia ora everyone! My name is Loren and I am based in Cambridge, Waikato.
I have a degree in psychology and experience working in mental health.

When I am not at work, I am likely to be spending time with my partner and our dog, attending live music events, spending time with family and friends, gardening, reading, arts and crafts, and participating in all types of sport.

I look forward to working with the HFNZ members of the Midlands Region!

You will all be able to meet Loren in person at the upcomg Adult Wellness Weekend. Midland members can connect with Loren by emailing her at loren@haemophilia.org.nz, or by calling/messaging on 021 762 121.
Adult Wellness Weekend
HFNZadmin
Coming up on 25-27 November is the HFNZ Adult Wellness Weekend. This special weekend is for adults aged 25+ who have a bleeding disorder, and their partners. The theme this year is The ties that bind us.

This weekend is an opportunity for adults with bleeding disorders to openly discuss their experiences, challenges, and concerns about living and aging with a bleeding disorder. The focus of the weekend is to increase knowledge about bleeding disorders, about upcoming trends and treatments, about aging with a bleeding disorder, and about the provision of health care in New Zealand, as well as learning about HFNZ and its activities.

Registration is now open, and you should have received an invitation in your inbox. If you have yet to receive an invite, contact us at info@haemophilia.org.nz and we'll send you the rego link.
A new home for HFNZ
HFNZadmin

We finally did it! After more than 10 years of talking and planning HFNZ have purchased a new home. As of 30 September the Foundation are the proud owners of a stand-alone property in Alicetown, Lower Hutt.

The property is currently home to two businesses, one of whom will continue as an ongoing tenant. The other will remain until early 2023, at which time we'll be moving in. It has plenty of off-street parking, as well as a readily reconfigurable interior. We are confident that it will more than serve our needs, now and into the future.

You can read more in the upcoming issue of Bloodline.

Central Camp

Well, the rain couldn't stop the fun for the Central Family Camp held on what must have been the wettest weekend on record at El Rancho in Waikanae. We had 39 of our members attend the weekend which was based around reconnecting and supporting each other. The last two years have removed what we have identified is so important to us: the personal connections we make. We had Martin Sloman QSM work with the adults on  Saturday morning, to help us reconnect and provide some tips to help us support each other.

Kiwifirst provided support that allowed us to put together packs for all of our younger members, which proved a real hit as we spent more time inside due to the weather.

The family quiz and junior talent quest provided fun for all ages, but the highlight had to be the eel feeding at Nga Manu.

Here are some photos that show the highlights of the camp.

Southern Dinner

On Wednesday 21 September the Southern crew got together at Pomeroys for dinner. This was a fabulous gathering, with members able to reconnect after a long quiet spell. It was great for them to be able to meet Tara, the new Southern outreach worker. It was also nice to welcome HTC nurse Kathy Fawcett and Physio Lee Townsend along.

As you can see in the images below, a rad time was had by all.

Keep your member details up to date
In order to get the most out of your membership, it's important to keep your details up to date. The key details are email address and date of birth.

Posting invitations and information to members is an expensive business, and where possible we would prefer to make contact electronically. If you have an email address, but you're not sure that we have it, please let us know.

If we have no DOB for you we can't filter you in to age-based mailing lists, like Adult Weekend, Youth Camp, and Women's Weekend. Again, if you're not sure that we have your DOB, please let us know.
